What do you think the saddest song in the world is?

(I don't mean sad as in pathetic
I mean sad as in meaningful and brings a tear to your eye.)

Yopu can post the lyrics if you want.

Well, to me, the moment I heard it, it touched my heart, and it's been my favourite song since.

Alter bridge - In Loving Memory.

The Lyrics are beautiful, reminds me of a special person I lost and this song helped me because it was so deep and moving.

Thanks for all you've done
I've missed you for so long
I can't believe you're gone, and
You still live in me
I feel you in the wind
You guide me constantly

I never knew what it was to be alone, no
'Cause you were always there for me
You were always home waiting

But now I come home
And I miss your face so
Smiling down on me
I close my eyes to see

And I know
You're a part of me
And its your song
That sets me free
I sing it while
I feel I can't hold on
I sing tonight
'Cause it comforts me

I carry the things that remind me of you
In loving memory of the one that was so true
You were as kind as you could be
And even though you're gone
You still mean the world to me

I never knew what it was to be alone, no
'Cause you were always there for me
You were always home waiting

But now I come home
And its not the same no
It feels empty and alone
I can't believe you're gone

And I know
You're a part of me
And it's your song
That sets me free
I sing it while
I feel I can't hold on
I sing tonight
'Cause it comforts me

I'm glad He set you free from sorrow
But I'll still love you more tomorrow
And you'll be here
With me still

All you did you did with feeling
And you always found a meaning
And you always will
And you always will
And you always will

And I know
You're a part of me
And it's your song
That sets me free
I sing it while
I feel I can't hold on
I sing tonight
'Cause it comforts me

You Are the Moon by The Hush Sound

Shadows all around you as you surface from the dark
Emerging from the gentle grip of night's unfolding arms
Darkness, darkness everywhere, do you feel all alone?
The subtle grace of gravity, the heavy weight of stone

You don't see what you possess, a beauty calm and clear
It floods the sky and blurs the darkness like a chandelier
All the light that you possess is skewed by lakes and seas
The shattered surface, so imperfect, is all that you believe

I will bring a mirror, so silver, so exact
So precise and so pristine, a perfect pane of glass
I will set the mirror up to face the blackened sky
So you can see your beauty every moment that you rise

other songs that have reduced me to tears are...
Everything We Had by The Academy Is...
Helena by My Chemical Romance
The Scientist by Coldplay (more the music vid, but anyhoo)
We Are Broken by Paramore
Round Here by Counting Crows (Brendon Urie's cover is amazing also.)

I cry a lot, what can I say.

The Last Song I'm Wasting On You by Evanescnce

Sparkling grey
They're my own veins

Any more than a whisper
Any sudden movement of my heart
And I know
I know I'll have to watch them pass away

Just get through this day

Give up your way
You could be anything
Give up my way
And lose myself

Not today
That's too much guilt to pay

Sickened in the sun
You dare tell me you love me
But you held me down and screamed you wanted me to die
Honey you know
You know I'd never hurt you that way

You're just so pretty in your pain

Give up my way
And I could be anything
I'll make my own way
Without your senseless
Hate
Hate
Hate
Hate

So run
Run
Run
And hate me
If it feels good
I can't hear your screams anymore

You lied to me
But I'm older now
And I'm not buying baby

Demanding my response
Don't bother breaking the door down
I found my way out

And you'll never hurt me again

Since the creator of the topic says a song who brings tears to your eyes, the ones that get right to my heart (how corny! but true) are:

Von- Sigur Rós

The song doesn't even say a thing, but it's just so moving, it actually makes me feel happy in the end, it takes me to a very dark place, and in the end I get out of there!

Ara bátur and All alright- Sigur Rós
Personal reasons, reminds me of my dead brother, I lost him before giving myself a chance to really get to know him.

How to disappear completely- Radiohead
This is pure beauty, I feel like is a song who asks for help, but help from yourself, because you know that when you are in a very dark place no one can't really help you but yourself, I always cry with this one!

I think I got more, but can't remember right now, and by the way I totally agree with llcm, Korn has such heart breaking songs, very personal stuff, I admire Jonathan for sharing such things!
