Hi Ray!

Now that I've had the timer of individual postings "fixed".....

Ever wonder WHY at this time --after being on the site for a few years, I was suddenly worried about that?

Its because of your new "Trending Topics" page.....

I don't seem to find easily the older version of the "Active Topics" page to compare this to...

But I assume (except for sticky topic) that all of the topics are listed in order by time of last posting from newest to oldest, and off to the other 10 pages just like that was done in "Active Topics".

[Off topic...thanks for expanding the listing up to 10 pages so that reduces the occasions we feel like we have to "bump" up topics before they vanished off the 4 page limit of the Active Topics old style]

1. Am I wrong? Are you using alphabetical or some other new type of sorting code to arrange these posts?

2. If it still is on newest postings get the highest priority in the list,

then explain why we have several minutes old items interspersed with days old items?

(To avoid repetitive lengthy printing of the first topic I've copied and pasted my proof in the first post below showing what I'm talking about ok? So read it and figure out what is going on)

Of course I refreshed page several times (over several days since the new design) to be certain it was not something that was still in the process of being designed and would vanish over time.

[I put one up on the "skin" since I get to post one photo per topic}

Proof? This new support topic does NOT appear on the list!

In "trending topics" the pages 2 through 10 do not work if you click on them --tried the row at bottom of page and tried the newer middle box that reveals pop up with all the pages listed....not a single new page is displayed...the links are broken or just not being created properly.

Nice catch, I have that fixed!

About your question about the way the trending topics are sorted. The list is not sorted by last post like the previous "active-topics", but this by a "trending" factor. For each topic this trending factor is calculated. This factor is a representation of a number of comments within a certain timespan, let's can call it the "comment density". Topics with the highest trending factor will float on top on the trending-topics page. This trending factor is of course a measure of topic popularity, and that's the purpose of the Trending Topics page.

Why hasn't this topic appeared on my list of "trending topics" no matter how many times I refresh it?

Is it abandoned? I only get to it using my member name, and going to what I last posted in under comments.

Lets see if it appears when I post now in it!

: ( This new topic still does not appear in the "trending topics" listings. Even though with 3 posts (even if all by me) I think it should be listed as "W" warm, correct? as well as "N" New under the old system....don't know what factors the new design has--and they are not necessarily listed anywhere for me to check without posting to ask you.

so when does this appear in "trending topics"? How many posts within how short a time?

That depends on the algorithm. Topics with at least 5 comments get a "hotness" factor. Let me reduce that to 3 to see if that gives better restults.
