There are many versions of the song. Let me know which one you think is the best or your personal favorite.

Have fun.
Take a listen to the songs.
Discuss.
Be polite.
And rock on!

So "I Drove All Night" was written by Billy Steinberg and Tom Kelly. They offered it to Roy Orbison to record. He recorded it in 1987 which wasn't released until after his death in 1992 on the soundtrack "Nintendo: White Knuckle Scorin' ". Here is the official YouTube video:

Cyndi Lauper recorded it in 1989 on her album "A Night To Remember". She published the version first and is know to have made the song popular. Here is the YouTube official video:

Pinmonkey recorded their version in 2002 as a country song on their album "Pinmonkey". Here is the YouTube video of their version:

Céline Dion recorded it in 2003 on her album "On Heart". Here is the official YouTube video:

The Maccabees recorded a version on the album "Wall Of Arms" in 2009. Here is their version:

The Protomen released their version in 2012 as a promotional cassette, yes you read it right, cassette tape! Here is their version on YouTube:

Carly Smithson performed it live on American Idol,

John Waite recorded it in 1987 for his album "Rover's Return", but decided not to release it.

Ray Dylan recorded a version on his album "Ray Dylan Sings Roy Orbison".

The first version I heard from one of my favorite singers. She's sexy in the video. Really couldn't ask for more. Céline's is a close second, and I really enjoyed Pinmonkey's and The Protomen's versions, too.

I didn't know so many people have recorded/covered this song. I think I liked Cyndi's version best. The Pinmonkey and Carly Smithson version were interesting as well.

Céline Dion
Celine Dion and Cyndi Pauper sang it best but Dion has a beautiful range and the music flows with her voice better making hers the best. Roy Orbison sang it very good as a male version. The other male versions are not good at all. They almost ruin the song. Smithson did not do well either because it did not have a very good flow. I have not heard Waite or Dylans versions.
