Hi there

I'm hoping I can get some suggestions to any songs that fit the title description. Nothing too heavy, noisy or fast paced. I'm looking for songs that have relatively calm dark undertones. Since dark is subjective, for me it is a song that's more sinister than it is sad.

While it isn't dark, I thought of Cyndi Lauper - Calm inside the storm

I already had Circle by Slipknot in my playlist but completely forgot about Vermillion pt 2. Thank you! It fits the theme perfectly

And thanks for the suggestion FWB6, but AiC is too metal-y for what I'm looking for. The heaviest song I have is The Call of Ktulu by Metallica in my playlist. But I will give AiC a listen nonetheless. Thanks

If Vermillion worked, try Leaving by Fight or Flight. Breaking Benjamin's Rain and Forget It are also kind of in that realm. Stars by Hum might be a good one too, but it is pretty guitar-driven.

How about Roxette - Harleys and Indians (Riders in the sky)

Lots of guitar riff and about death.

Is there any specific genre you want? There's plenty of drum and bass tracks completely similar to this topic.

[Edited] No specific genre. As long as songs have one or more of the following musical elements:

- A prominent bass component (eg. Goodbye - Apparat)
- Relatively monotone or low-pitched vocals (eg. Tear You Apart - She Wants Revenge)
- Steady beat (eg. Clubbed to Death - Rob Dougan)
- Dark intro or riffs (eg. Pioneer To The Falls - Interpol)
- A song that is consistently low-key throughout and doesn't "break"(eg. Riders On The Storm - The Doors) [thanks CaptainStabbin]

Are you on a PC? Shift + enter creates a new line. If on mobile, hit return.

One that comes to mind instantly is Zero Method - Cold War (Optiv remix) Starts off calm and then a huge storm hits. No lyrics, just insane bass.

I second Rain by Breaking Benjamin. Maybe check out Manchester Orchestra's stuff, particularly "Virgin" and "Where Have You Been?".

^ That's the one I thought of at the time. Eurovision, baby! But I didn't post because of the "before" factor.

Span - Peaceful. A deceptive song about a man either killing his partner or fantasizing doing it, depending on your interpretation. Top songwriting from the Norwegian lads.
