Post here for anyone that has died or for an anniversary of a singer, songwriter, actor, author, sports player, etc. You could also say what you appreciated about them.

Keep it nice, keep it neat, keep it clean.

That work?

I'll start with John Spinks, one of the original founding members of the Outfield.

This isn't a 'Name a Famous Dead Person' game thread, Jeff. It's for when a celebrity/public figure you (as Carl said) liked or admired has died, or at least when it's the anniversary of their death.

Two deaths today:

Author P.D. James, who was elderly, and Australian cricketer Phillip Hughes, who died after being hit in the neck by a cricket ball a couple of days ago. Both worth mentioning because of their achievements. I haven't read any of P.D. James' books, but I know her name from 'Pointless' and the TV adaptation of 'Death Comes to Pemberley'. Phillip Hughes' death is just tragic.

I'm a day late but yesterday was the 7 year anniversary of the death of Sean Taylor. He was a budding superstar in the NFL whos home was burglarized. During the event, he was shot in his leg and bled out. Really a rare athlete, and I looked up some highlights as rememberance. He'd probably be in the later years of a hall of fame career today. RIP Sean Taylor.

Wow Curt, it's been 7 years already? I remember that, seems like it wasn't that long ago.

Paul Walker died 1 year ago today. Also seems like it hasn't been that long.

Christine Cavanaugh has died - she voiced 'Chuckie' in 'The Rugrats', 'Babe' the pig, 'Dexter' in 'Dexter's Laboratory', and more. Brought me lots of laughs when I was younger.

Nick Drake, an English contemporary folk singer-songwriter and musician, died on November 25, 1974 at age 26 from an overdose of amitriptyline, a prescribed antidepressant. We are thankful to have been left with the beautiful music he made. He will forever be in our hearts.

R.I.P. Nick Drake.

Tough to say.... RIP Stu Scott. One of the original OGs who brought a whole new style into being on ESPN. I think anyone who loves sports and is in the 23-35 demographic is hit a little hard today. Stu was a big time voice for me growing up and when I think about it, was probably the voice that broke most of the big sports stories to me. I watched him and Eisen every morning.

Teared up today a few times. His ESPY speech not that long ago was very moving for me and is even more moving now in retrospect. RIP Stu.

Jean Cabu (76 years old)
Charb (47 years old)
Georges Wolinski (80 years old)
All 3 of them were the most important Charlie Hebdo cartoonists.

Yesterday afternoon (January 7) at 2pm, my parents seemed more shocked than I was. But when I turned the radio on at 4pm, that news left me voiceless. What an awful Wednesday!
