Hi... anybody, I am doing a project on child abuse. I was wondering if there was a song that anyone knew of that would be a good song to play for ppl to show them the severity of child abuse... or something along those lines.. thank you

here are the lyrics...

She walks to school with the lunch she packed,
Nobody knows what she's holdin back,
Wearin the same dress she wore yesterday,
She hides the bruises with a linen and lace ohhh,
The teacher wonders but she doesn't ask,
It's hard to see the pain behind the mask,
Bearin' the burden of a secret storm,
Sometimes she wishes she was never born,

Through the wind and the rain she stands hard as a stone,
In a world that she can't rise above,
But her dreams give her wings and she flies to a place where she's loved,
Concrete angel,

Somebody cries in the middle of the night,
The neighbors hear but they turn out the lights,
A fragile soul caught in the hands of fate,
When mornin' comes it'll be too late,

Through the wind and the rain she stands hard as a stone,
In a world that she can't rise above,
But her dreams give her wings and she flies to a place where she's loved
Concrete angel

A statue stands in a shaded place,
An angel girl with an upturned face,
A name is written on a polished rock,
A broken heart that the world forgot,

Through the wind and the rain she stands hard as a stone,
In a world that she can't rise above
But her dreams give her wings and she flies to a place where she's loved,
Concrete angel

Is It Love - Pink... it's mostly about domestic violence but one verse (the last verse) says: (and I'll give you the chorus too)

"Is it love, or just a curse?
Do you feel good when I hurt?
I need your heart to open up
If this love's not real
Then it's just my luck

Daddy listen,
I gave it up.
I'm not your little girl
My cherry's popped
And all the trust is missing
But please listen
What do I do
I know you want to hurt him
But I like what he do
He's only doing what you used to"

Hope that's at least a little useful

*The Eleventh Commandment- Collin Raye

She hears his heavy breathing in the dark
His footsteps commin' closer down the hall
She's so ashamed she's daddy's secret love
She wants to die, she wants to cry
But he can't get enough

The bruses on his face will go away
Mom keeps him home from school 'til they fade
She's sorry he was born, and tells him so
He takes it in, he hangs his chin
He ducks another blow

Did God overlook it
What ought have been written
The Eleventh Commandment
Honor thy children

He cries for hours, cries and never stops
He shakes so hard his little craddle rocks
He'll never have the chance to be brand new
He'll never walk, he'll never talk
He's addicted, too

Did God overlook it
What ought have been written
The Eleventh Commandment
Honor thy children

Thou shall not kill
Thou shall not steal
Thou shall not take the Lords name in vain
Thou shall not cause thy children pain

God Does not overlook it
What ought have been written
The Eleventh Commandment
Honor thy children
Honor thy children

"Medication" by Garbage... I see this song as being about a neglected child.

I don't need an education,
I learnt all I need from you.
They've got me on some medication,
My point of balance was askew.
It keeps my temperature from rising,
My blood is pumping trough my veins.

Somebody get me out of here,
I'm tearing at myself.
Nobody gives a damn about me or anybody else.

I wear myself out in the morning,
You're asleep when I get home.
Please don't call me self defending,
You know it cuts me to the bone.
And it's really not surprising,
I hold a force I can't contain.

Somebody get me out of here,
I'm tearing at myself.
Nobody gives a damn about me or anybody else.

And still you call me co-dependent,
Somehow you lay the blame on me.
And still you call me co-dependent,
Somehow you lay the blame on me.

Somebody get me out of here,
I'm tearing at myself.
I've got to make a point these days,
To extricate myself.
Somebody get me out of here,
I'm tearing at myself.
Nobody gives a damn about me or anybody else.

And still you call me co-dependent,
Somehow you lay the blame on me.
And still you call me co-dependent,
Somehow you lay the blame on me.
Somehow you lay the blame on me......

Do you mean the song "Never Again" off of the "Silver Side Up" CD by Nickelback? That was a decent song about abuse, but it was about spousal abuse.....

its about the effects of child abuse: I'm OK by christina aguilera

Once upon a time there was a girl
In her early years she had to learn
How to grow up living in a war that she called home
Never knew just where to turn for shelter from the storm

Hurt me to see the pain across my mother's face
Everytime my father's fist would put her in her place
Hearing all the yelling, I would cry up in my room
Hoping it would be over soon

Bruises fade father, but the pain remains the same
I still remember how you kept me so afraid
Strength is my mother, for all the love she gave
Every morning that I wake, I look back at yesterday
And I'm Ok

I often wonder why I carry all this guilt
When it's you that helped me put up all these walls I've
built
Shadows stir at night through a crack in the door
The echo of a broken child screaming please no more
Daddy don't you understand the damage you have done?
To you it's just a memory but for me it still lives on

Bruises fade father, but the pain remains the same
I still remember how you kept me so, so afraid
Strength is my mother, for all the love she gave
Every morning that I wake, I look back at yesterday

It's not so easy to forget
All the marks you left along her neck
When I was thrown against old stairs
And everyday afraid to come home in fear of what i might
see next

Bruises fade father but the pain remains to same
And I still remember how you kept me so afraid
Strength is my mother for all the love you gave
Every morning that i wake, i look back at yesterday
And I'm ok
Mmmm, I'm ok

___________________________________-

the song is called daddy..its kinda scary..probably not all that appropriate for a school project lol but here are the lyrics :

Mother, please forgive me. I just had to get out all my pain and suffering.
Now that I am done, remember I will always love you; I'm your son.

Little child, looking so pretty,
come out and play, I'll be your Daddy.
Innocent child, looking so sweet,
I rape in my eyes, and on your flesh I'll eat.

You raped. I feel dirty.
It hurt. As a child.
Tied down. "That's a good boy."
And fuck. Your own child.
I scream. No one hears me.
It hurt. Not a lot.
My God. Saw you watch.
Mommy, why? Your own child.

Little child, looking so pretty,
come out and play, I'll be your Daddy.

You raped. I feel dirty.
It hurt. As a child.
Tied down. "That's a good boy."
And fuck. Your own child.
I scream. No one hears me.
It hurt. Not a lot.
My God. Saw you watch.

Mommy, why?

It's alright

"I didn't touch you there."
Mommy said she didn't care.
"I didn't touch you there."
That's why Mommy stopped and stared.

Little child, looking so sweet,
I rape in my eyes, and on your flesh i'll eat.

You raped. I feel dirty.
It hurt. As a child.
Tied down. "That's a good boy."
And fuck. Your own child.
I scream. No-one hears me.
It hurt. Not a lot.
My God. Saw you watch.

Mommy, why?

Motherfucker
Fuck!!
Fucking bitch
I fucking hate you
Fuck you
Motherfucker
I fucking hate you
Fuck you
Bitch
You fucking ruin my life
You fucked...
Fucking bitch
I hate you
I fucking hate you
Fuck you...
