To be honest I've never read a book by a Russian author.
Maybe I should.... Hm....

I think the only russian book I've read is Idiot by F.M.Dostoyevskiy (not even sure it is russian, but hope so) - so I can hardly judge russian literature in complex.
As for the IDIOT, didn't like it. The storyline, in my opinion, has no certain course, it just winds around a short time period - and then is suddenly cut off without any conclusion. It always makes me angry
