I need to research this for my Graphics homework, but I cant find out anything about it on the net! Can anyone help me???

Well, what do you want to know, exactly?
You got your object, you got your plastic, the plastic gets heated up, sucked over the object, creates a mould of the object, and there you go.
But i doubt that will fill out an entire project.
What else do you need to know?

basically - you have the vaccum forming machine... it has a base that you put your model on (usually made of wood).. the base has many holes in it to allow for the sucktion. you lower the base and use the clips on top to put the thermoplastic (meaning that it can be heated and moulded and reheated again). typical thermoplastic is high-impact polystyrene (HIPs). you bring forward the ehating element and turn the heat up.. keep checking the plastic and wait for it to droop down a fair bit. when it's heated enough, you pull back the heater hood, pull the lever which forces the mould into the molten plastic and then you flip the vaccum switch and all air is sucked out. you are left with the mould imprinted in the plastic. you can then make two halves and fill the mould with plaster to something, or just use the mould on its own.
