Whenever someone makes a thread looking for something, whenever I reply, it's because I've used Google to find it - I have the musical knowledge of a frogspawn. So, I thought I'd share how I get it to work. If you're not getting any replies with your thread, or before you even make a thread, try this:

**How to Find a Song Name from a few Lyrics**
Say you heard a song, and you can remember the lyrics, "I get knocked down, but I get up again" and you want to know the name.

1. Go to Google.

2. Type lyrics followed by the snippet of lyrics you know. If you're unsure if it's but or when or if, it doesn't matter, just leave it out.

So, you'll have entered:
lyrics i get knocked down i get up again

3. Press search!

9 times out of 10, the song will jump out at you...you'll get a preview of the rest of the lyrics which might jog your memory. If it's covered by more than one artist, a little research will find out who it is for you.

I find that with 'lyrics' at the start, you are far far far more likely to find the song. If you still have no luck, try with slight variations of what you can remember - Is it knocked down, or blocked down? If that still doesn't work, just remove the words you're unsure of altogether.

When you're using this method, it's key words like people or place names, unusual phrases or what you think are key parts to the song that will help you find what you're looking for.

Hope this helps.

Thank you, thank you, Danastasia. I tried everything I could think of to get the name of a song I heard on "Crossing Jordan". In my search I came to this forum and read your instructions with some skepticism but it worked like a charm. I just think it's very kind of you to share that little tip not to mention that psychic thing you got going! thanks again

Call me blasphemous, but with Google you kind of use the search engine of all the lyrics sites on the world, you're more likely to find what you're looking for. And the LSI one is always down *rolls eyes*.

And for the record, the song in the example is "Tubthumping" by Chumbawumba

that's exactly the same thing I do when trying to help here.... though I type "lyrics" after the other words and my results would be more like 50% or so

Now, only if there was some way to find a song that has no lyrics at all or a song you know the artist and title but can't find the darn song (to download) then I'll be happy.

Obviously the song I am looking for is VERY new because there is no finding it anywhere. I have tried searching on every search engine. It's a rap song I heard on the radio a few days ago. The only lyrics I remember are "work that thing, run girl"
If you have heard it or know any lyrics/title/ artist please reply!

[lyrics=]Hi....I was listening to the show "Tool Time" today and heard a song being played. I could have sworn it was Kenny Rogers singing. The only words I remember are ( We've Got it all). I did a search on www.letssingit.com, with no results.
It is not the one that goes.....We've got tonight, who needs tomorrow, etc. Anyone see the show?
It is Thursday.....7th of june.
