it's a classical music or classic/modern fusion... it was often played on tv during videopostcards from france...

Difficult question, it's quite possible the channel you watched those days used their own music during the World Cup. The official anthem was 'Copa de la vida' (Cup of life) - Ricky Martin, but on the opening ceremony the main song was 'La cour des grands' by Youssou N'Dour & Axelle Red (which sounds more like classical music then Ricky)
