It's also a larger concern that your boss didn't have the presence of mind to do that anyway. It screams of someone who shouldn't be a manager at all yet

I look for literally any conflict of interest to get me out of anything.

You do know the saying is "it's not what you know but who you know"? Not every job hires the right person. As others said the boss shouldn't have been in the interview at all. That would be like you would be in the interview when your friend was there. However, again it's all in who you know in many situations. It doesn't surprise me, though. A bad thing working with a friend who is a boss, he'll likely take advantage of the other person. For example, he'll expect him to work over time, do extra stuff, etc.

I wish I had a telephoto lens so I could take pictures of Jupiter. I'm definitely not a professional and even managed to make them all squiggly with a tripod.

My sister works for the same company I do. All I did when she applied was let her put me as a reference and answer any questions that those hiring had for me. We still have people occasionally just realize that we're related and she's been there a couple years now. We don't advertise it. Neither of us uses it to advantage. We're both just there to work.
On the other side. We have a husband and wife who work together (he's her direct supervisor) and a couple father/sons who work for us. Those situations are a bit more biased than ours.

Your boss definitely should've stayed out of it, especially with it being unrelated to your department. That probably put pressure on those hiring to do what he wanted, not what was best.

Thank you all for your responses. Just wanted to make sure that I wasn't looking at it wrong. This company has a lot of upsides, but a lot of down ones as well. We have several 'family' related issues that shouldn't even be happening and then this thing as well. My boss is young, about 20 yrs younger than me at least.....very inexperienced at being a manager. good at his job, but really not a great mgr. The terminal manager is very inexperienced as well, she's had some issues of late and this is just the cherry on top. waiting to see what she says when the TM's are back from their yearly meetings.
I know a couple of people would love to see me take my boss's job or even the tm's. My issue is my daughter is 15 and getting closer to graduation. I want to be able to be there for her as the years have flown by too fast already.

I don't think I've ever had ravioli.

I wish I could stop caring about people being wrong on the internet.

I love raviolis, they are yummy.

This hurricane messed Florida up. I assume that people didn't think it would be so serious even though they expected it to be a major hurricane before reaching land

What a fucking exhausting week it has been. I can't remember the last time I have had this much caffeine and nicotine flowing through my bloodstream.

Leaving the SU game before the 4th quarter cuz we're up 56-0. Don't need to stay for the rest

True. Our area has a big drug problem. Like people overdose with their kids in the car here

I can't believe we're 5-0 for the season. Don't expect it to last with the tougher game coming up but that's unheard of for SU football.

I gave my neighbour a little bag of sweets for two reasons. 1. It was his 70th birthday and I don't think he has anyone, so I wanted to show someone cared. 2. I thought there was a possibility he might be dead, and if he took the sweets (I left them outside his door) I'd know he was alive. So, he's alive. But I just went out for a walk and I found the bag of sweets on the ground (opened but not finished). I guess he didn't like them. Or he dropped them.

Why didn't I ring the doorbell? He scares me a little and he's reclusive, doesn't even say hello on the stairs.

That was nice of you! I wonder why he just put them outside though instead of throwing them out.
