7) Use the Crockpot to make more home-cooked meals
8) Understand more about finance/economics
9) Memorize all of the important phone numbers in my life

I don't set New Years Resolutions. Maybe I should start again because it's always good to have a goal.

Um, kinda. I have a plan at least - 1) Have a timeline to become a state employee, or start applying to other jobs (first choice right now is Seattle, but we'll see)
Better than at the beginner of the year I think - 2) Exercise 5 days a week and eat healthier, get back to regular cholesterol and/or 145 pounds
Kind of - 3) Have a better idea of who I'm going to spend the rest of my life with
Done! - 4) Get a physical
Done! - 5) Find a new place to live (not a good idea for me to live long-term with a cat since I'm allergic)
Going through Revelation for BSF - 6) Complete the Bible reading challenge
Um, saw the dentist. Should probably wear it more often -7) Wear my retainer
Backup player on worship team 8) Play an instrument at least once a week
Done! - 9) Plan at least two trips either with friends, to visit friends, or have them visit me
Not yet - 10) Apply for The Amazing Race with my sister (probably not Survivor though, haha)

Alright, we're close enough to the end of the year now, so it's time to see how I did on these:

1) Have a timeline to become a state employee, or start applying to other jobs (first choice right now is Seattle, but we'll see)

...well I applied to some other jobs but that didn't really get anywhere. I don't really know a timeline of becoming a state employee, but for some people it has taken 2-3 years after they started working at where I work. So I think I'm going to push this resolution over to next year.

2) Exercise 5 days a week and eat healthier, get back to regular cholesterol and/or 145 pounds

Um, I did lose some weight and I think I got close to 145 pounds at some point, but the holidays don't help. So I guess I'm pushing this one to next year as well.

3) Have a better idea of who I'm going to spend the rest of my life with

I guess you could say I did this one, since I had a pretty long DTR with my best friend and we decided that we'll most likely always just stay best friends. But I definitely haven't figured this one out yet.

4) Get a physical

Did this one!

5) Find a new place to live (not a good idea for me to live long-term with a cat since I'm allergic)

Did this one as well. I'm now living at a place that's closer to work, cheaper, and with two friends that I really enjoy living with. We had a new roommate move in a month ago who has been a little harder to warm up to, but I'm hoping it'll turn out fine.

6) Complete the Bible reading challenge

I joined BSF in which we have been going through Revelation, so I'm going to say I did this one well enough.

7) Wear my retainer

Uh...didn't do that. Another one to copy to next year.

8) Play an instrument at least once a week

I moved into a place that has a keyboard, and I also do have access to a grand piano. I also played the saxophone today. So I'd say I've done this one.

9) Plan at least two trips either with friends, to visit friends, or have them visit me

Yeah I think I actually did four! Visited college friends in Chicago in February, college friend and his girlfriend visited me in Phoenix in March, road tripped to Utah in July to visit my current roommate, and went to Disneyland with two high school friends in October.

10) Apply for The Amazing Race with my sister (probably not Survivor though, haha)

Ah, gotta move this one to next year as well.

Alright, so I guess I did about six of mine. I feel like it's been kind of a rough year so I actually did better than I expected! Time to think of some resolutions for next year...

Good resolutions, Kaleb, although you boys shouldn't place so much importance on relationships. Love will happen when it happens, and in the meantime accept and love yourselves. (Cheeeeese.)

9) Memorize all of the important phone numbers in my life

I mean to do this, too. Also...to eat fewer crisps, eat more bran foods, and buy new trainers.

Here are mine for 2017:

1. I just got out of a...relationship very recently. We weren't dating (although it's still questionable whether this person has romantic feelings for me), but this person was extremely clingy to me, treated me very poorly and insensitively, and was borderline stalker-ish asking me what I'm doing all the time. I found out this person unfriended me on facebook yesterday – I had a lot of mixed feelings when I first realized it, but the main emotion I'm feeling now is elation, freedom, and relief! One of my biggest resolutions for 2017 is to not let this person drag me down this year!

2. Broaden the extracurriculars/activities I do outside of work. Not that church/Christian activities are bad, but look into getting involved in some environmental activities and other friend groups.

3. Running has kind of become my thing this year – doing a half marathon in a couple weeks which I really need to train more for haha. Continue running this year or find another athletic activity I enjoy.

4. Try out a new healthy recipe every two weeks.

5. Get a new job. It's hard to want to leave because I do like the work environment, but I should be doing better.

Alrighty....here are a few for me for 2017....

1.Continue to build our new family with Jennifer, Nikki, Cody and Ella. Be there for each of them in the way they need me to be.
2. I got my better parttime job this year now that I am an independent Uber driver. Making better money and not working as hard. Continue to build this up as a more profitable business.
3. Continue to get more organized. I lack a bit there.
4. Get healthier. No more broken bones...lol lose 25 lbs.
5. Continue to make it count.

Best of luck to you Carl in achieving your new year resolutions! I'm sure you'll be able to achieve those quickly.

Here are mine that I'm setting for 2017!

1. BUY A CAR!
2. Maintain an average of AT LEAST a 3 GPA!
3. Continue to work out and gain muscle! (Once I'm cleared from the doctor for my back)
4. Find a lady friend!
5. Grow out my beard! lol
6. Possibly find a new job. Really not enjoying my current job, but we'll see.
7. Do NOT give up even if that's the only option.

Kick some butt in 2017, everyone.

One week in:

1. Saw this person again today and added back on facebook. Must continue to stay strong and think positively on the situation.

2. Going to a gardening event next week.

3. Half marathon coming up in a week, and registered for a gym.

4. Still need to try this!

5. Have a phone interview Tuesday.

I did this this year. Better late than never. Still haven't learnt the important numbers in my phone book, though. I was thinking about the need to do so recently--forgot we'd mentioned it here. Try again.

Great job, Carl. How did you do, Kaleb?
