When I'm editing an album and it contains the colon sign in it, it always says it's invalid. Why is it invalid?

You're best option would be to PM Ray and ask him. It's either a mistake, in which case he'll probably fix it, or if it's like that for a reason, he'll be able to tell you.

The colon character ':' is a reserved character for internal usage, therefore it can't be used. You can use the semicolon ';' instead or use the ASCII code for the colon :
