News Article

What kind of emergency doctor lets a patient that is clearly in need of help die? This just makes me mad, I can't imagine what was going thought her mind as she waited to die. That emergency staff should be replaced and the 911 operators should have send an ambulance after receiving various calls.

Any thoughts?

I'm confused, and I read the article. So, she was in the hospital's emergency room and no one helped her? If so, yeah, that kind of stuff happens, there are other emergencies too, not every hospital has a million doctors on duty. I'm not saying I don't feel sorry for her or her family at all, that stuff just happens sometime's, sorry to say.

If a person is throwing up blood in the emergency room they should have at least tried to help her. they could've send her to another nearby hospital.

That's true, but although she was choking up blood, there are other people in there losing limbs. I'm just saying there are other emergencies, although I do agree about the taking her to another hospital part, they could have done a little more, unless totally occupied with other emergencies, which I can see being the case.

Apparently, this Hospital has been known to mess up so their funding was cut. This could be a possible reason why they seemed to not care.

That is awful.
It is true that sometimes, there's simply no available doctors, BUT someone should have helped her. At least, the 911 operators should have done something, they could have helped.

i dont know how many of you have been to an ER but they're not very quick to help people out in an emergency. last time i went i spent 3 hours waiting to be helped. im not sticking up for the hospital, someone died and that sucks and all, but i thinks typical.

I was listening to the news this morning when I heard about this. What the hell kind of hospital and emergency operator just do nothing as she clearly needed medical attention?!!! I think is bs and they should all be rethought for being "medical Specialists".

No,it's not really HALF the horror it's written up to be.

Personal experience; I had an accident in my construction job a few years ago and,"visited", the major trauma center ER in Atlanta.Well, after sitting in
the waiting room for OVER 8 AND A HALF HOURS,finally a doctor began to
offer assistance.

Besides the non-emergenies, there were... I WON'T EVEN SAY IT because you one-sided,dysfunctional,bleeding-heart liberals can't take it - the truth.

If you didn't rush to unrighteous judgement you'd realize that she had a PREVIOUSLY KNOWN(preexisting) CONDITION that she never properly took care of.
Also, she was a wanted criminal,an illegal alien, and, dangerously obese to boot.
So, is it really the dispicable trajedy it's made out to be??

I was enjoying your post until halfway through....you shoulda quit while you were ahead.

It is a doctor's job to heal a patient REGADLESS of who they are...it does not matter.

I am not going to make comparisons with the third world ... but maybe I am. What kind of health system is that ??

Not everyone's a doctor you know. The number of people injured in hospitals hugely out numbers the amount of doctors in it, no matter what hospital you go to, no matter where it is.

I saw this on the news.. the women was laying on the floor throwing up blood and they told her it wasn't important enough to be seen right away. Her husband and another person called 911 FROM THE HOSPITAL and were told that it wasn't an emergency because she was already there.

Aside from her treatment being sickening, I'm pretty disgusted that those people thought nothing of what was coming out of her being exposed to everyone else at the hospital. That should be a serious health and safety issue in itself.

It's a matter of qualified staff that can prioritise between urgent and less urgent cases.

Maybe there were more urgent cases? It's not known.

Vommiting blood is a serious Symptom of 51 known causes. Throwing up in the waiting room, where a large number of patients are exposed to her blood, could have infected others if she had some type of disease that was causing that to her. So, the doctors taught she doesn't need help right away and the other patients, that are exposed to her blood, cannot possible be in risk of infection if she accidently vomited on someone.

Here is a major flaw within the US healthcare system:

The US has the best standard of healthcare in the world. However, less than 10% of the population can afford to pay for any treatment whatsoever, and I wouldn't be surprised if incidents like this happened more often.

and heres the thing, they happen all the time. our healthcare is absurd. to charge what they do for even minor services is insane. 900+ dollars for ANY emergency room visit, and thats just to be taken care of. add on any procedures you need done. its a complete joke.

i dont mean to sound heartless about this woman dying but like i said in an earlier post, if you go to an emergency room expect to wait an hour at least no matter how serious your injury or illness may be. no matter what your doing or how bad it is.

I took my husband to the ER because he had a dry socket after getting his wisdom teeth out... we had to wait for about 3 hours for that. Which I can understand, yes, he was curled over in pain, but he wasn't sprawled on the floor dying.
The thing about though was that we sat in the waiting room for 2 hours and then in an exam room for another hour. Even if they couldn't see the woman right away they at least could have moved her to an exam room so she wasn't causing that horrific scene for the rest of the people there.
