has anybody else heard of this?
I read a couple of articles about it a few days ago - i think it's coming into press because of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes.
Tom is a Scientologist and even though Katie was raised as a Catholic, she's taking classes and thinking of converting.
I don't know much about the religion, so correct me if i'm wrong - but followers believe that spirits of dead aliens live inside humans - is that right?
I read that they don't believe in nurture as this makes children weak and dependent. so for example, if a child hits their head on a wall, the parent won't 'kiss it better', instead, they'll hold the kid's head against the wall, believing that the pain will flow back into the wall.
there's lots more stuff like this, which i don't think can be good for a child. Like there's special schools for kids who are of this religion, and they only learn how to write, maths and Scientology. and for the rest of the day they do manual labour. Then, once they are old enough, they are expected to sign a contract saying they will be a Scientologist for a billion years.

anyone know anymore about this religion?

never heard of it in my life but it sounds completely insane. oh well, if that's their religion, then fine but i totally dont believe it

It's absolute BULL.

The creator of scientology wrote lots of books. In one he said that the best way to make a quick buck was to start a religion.

it's bull. Tom cruise has lost his mind, I read that when Kate gives birth to the baby, she cannot scream when she's in pain. It's just weird. PEOPLE I SAY NO TO SCIENTOLOGY

yeah!

i read that about katie not being allowed to scream when she gives birth...that girl's going to need an epidural!
it's ridiculous - the mother screaming when giving brith isn't going to traumatise the baby - the baby - the baby will be screaming as well!

Hah, well it's interesting all right...what I don't get is why she'd change what she believed entirely for a guy. I mean, if you aren't religious, whatever, follow whatever damn religion you want, but if you have a faith it seems extreme to change it for a guy. Anyway.

Tool was once, "unbeknown" to them, booked to play at a venue nicknamed the Scientology Celebrity Center, a center paid for by followers. Before playing, Maynard, having found out, looked at everyone and bleeted like a sheep, "Baaaa, baaaa."

And Scientology teaches that pain is an illusion, a mindset, amongst other things. A few follows have to date died as a result of ignoring pain, a natural defense mechanism of the body, because they believed it was just a state of mind, and all they had to do was give in / believe more.

I'm pretty sure a little while back Scientology claimed that God's existence was proven by some psychologically studies regarding IQ. Was an interesting, entirely bullshit read of course.

Scientology, like Mormonism for example (although worse) requires members to "contribute" large portions of their salaries to the church.

Oh, and go watch Battlefield Earth if you'd like to know more, the Hollywood produced Scientology movie created by L. Ron Hubbard, starring John Travola, a scientologist ...
