| No, I don't mean rocket propelled grenades so all you anarchists can put your weapons down
Meanwhile, all you gamers can pick your weapons up - by RPG I do of course mean Role Play Games. From Pokemon to Dungeon Siege, World of Warcraft to Final Fantasy, this thread is dedicated to them all.
Which RPGs do you play? Are some better or worse than others? Do you have any tips that might make playing the games a little easier for others who are just starting out with them?
I'll try to throw a "RPG Spotlight" in this thread every so often to highlight one that I enjoy a lot, and everyone else is welcome to do the same.
Let battle commence! |

| i used to play runescape
to me it stands out above a lot of the other rpg's very simply because you can do and be anything you want
WoW is runescape version 5000.12
Sure you pay 50 bucks for the game and a month, and 15 dollars every month, but if you have a job, it isn't difficult at all.
I find 15 bucks a month at parties and in my couch in under a week. | 18-12-2005 00:12 dakondakblade |

| lol im bumping this thread for a reason..
with the release of such titanic rpg's as
Final Fantasy
Dungeon Siege
Dungeon Lords..
there comes a NEW breed of rpg.. Im here to tell you about Morrowind..
Story 10/10.. Its standard rpg fare, with a few unexpected twists... Standard oh wow you have to fulfil a prophecy..
Gameplay..10/10 This is the MEAT of Morrowind..
Morrowind quite literally is as imaginative as you can think of..
There is of course one main Quest
but thats where all the similarities end.. Imagine WOW but imagine it single player. Now imagine that it comes with a cd for making your own mods. Now take a main quest with over 50 different sub quests in the quest. That would be standard RPG fare, but after that Morrowind leaves all other rpg's choking on it;s dust.
Along with the Main Quest are 10 Factions along with a werewolf, vampire and draedic sub factions. The game is quite literally what YOU want it to be
Want to be master thief with the ability to dossapear? go for it. How about a Ninja with super speed? You can do that too.
Morrowind is best described as a cross between, WOW, Zelda and Final Fantasy
It has Zelda elements with some puzzles, special attacks, etc, it has the open play of WOW, and it has the weapon enhancement sof Final Fantasy, as well as some choice magic attacks..
To beat the game in its entirety not counting the bloodmoon, and tribunal expansions, will take you over 500 hours. You dont even have to follow the main quest. You can quite literally go do other factions quests or go hunting in the Daedric ruins, the oh so powerful Daedric weaponry. But the mainquest has some awesome bosses. Eg the God Vivec, who has a fire spell which will DESTROY you in one hit..
Graphics- 10/10 Fairly standard graphics for 2002.. BUT with the release of Morrowind , they included a creater Set for free. It will literally if you have the time, let you rebuild the game if you wish. However some people have gone further and created 2 specific mods. These are called Better Bodies, and Better Heads, and they essentially bring the graphics to par with taht of World of Warcraft..
Sound- 10/10 The morrowind soundtrack is awesome beyond belief. Drawing upon elements of Lord Of the Rings, Gladiator, Conan the Barbarian, its various tracks fit the game well. If taht wasnt enough however, in your main morrowind folder is a sub music foler. and it lets you put as MANY of your MP3's as you want. So I was killing a bone lord while my musiic was going * I hate everyone*. It's awesome to be able to hack and slash to your fave tunes, esp without using up resources
Replayability/value 10++++ /10
You CANT get tired of this game. After you finish the main quest theres another 500 quests for you to finish, and with additions being released every day, you can give your character weapons such as a Tetsaiga, Lightsaber, Masamune, Dark Sycthe, Ultima Weapon. Its all being released every day..
Overall 10/10
This game is one of the few games that has received game of the year for 2002 , by over 10 magazines. And coming in Jan or feb 2006 is the new morrowind member, Tribunal. Coming out for the x360,and PC. People are going to flock to it like sea gulls, and dont forget who told you about this game
and here is my character

| As of today, the expansion to Dungeon Siege 2 is finally out here in the UK! Called "Broken World", it picks up after the world-wide apocalypse that finished off Dungeon Siege 2 that completely changed the face of the planet and nearly annihilated all civilisation from Aranna.
I have a copy of the game right next to me on my desk as we speak, and I'll be putting a full review of it up in here as soon as I've started playing it. | 01-09-2006 17:49 BynnaD |

| MMORPG, a space one at that. $10 a month roughly I think, it's complex but its a good game once you know what you're doing. You can get a 2 week free trial, get one and check it out.
My IGN DanniTheGreat. If you're gonna seriously consider playing go: Caldari, Achura (male or female, it doesnt matter) then choose the school and bloodline. Which are irrelevant if you ask me. If you try it msg me and I'll do my best to try and help =o

| Soooo, after a few steps in Aranna as a Blood Assassin, it seems quite interesting.
Considering the fact that we developped most of the time only one profession in DS2 and missed out a bit on the combination of professions, the fact that you are developping now a hybrid character makes it a lot more interesting. More skills and powers to choose from, so in the end a lot more options and ways to develop a character ... plussss, considering the fact that if you split experience between mage and melee/ranger, the "strength" of your main profession is a couple of levels behind of that of the monsters. That makes it a lot tougher and a lot more fun!! You can point at each other and laugh each time the other one gets knocked out. All my money goes to health potions these days.
A bit of a backdraw is that I am fighting now with a dwarf at my side!!
(right! one of those with short legs and a weird beard)
I would pat him on the head, but the prob is that he is much more experienced than me. The alternative is to hang around with those Dryad lesbians ... NOT a good option *sighs* | 19-09-2006 15:46 Gate_Kepper |
