Question about Satanists

| Before I start this, I just want to make it clear that I am not having a go at satanists, I was just thinking about something to do with them, and wondered what they had to say.
From just looking around the forum, the only satanist I have noticed is NightHobbit, and she has said the it is not the same satan the christians know about. I cant really understand satanism at the minute...i dont know a lot about it, so im just going to ask one of the things i was wondering about it...
When someone close to you dies, if you are a satanist, what do you believe happens to them now? Do you believe they are with satan now or they are in hell?? I may be wrong but if this is not what you believe, what do you think happens once someone dies? and does it comfort you? i know it is comforting for me to think of dead relatives in heaven, but i cant understand how (or if) satanists find comfort in thinking their relatives and friends are with satan.
I tried to ask this by showing what i believe, but not offending anyone! I hope you understand I am just curious!

| wow, this is intense. i cannot imagine wanting to picture my deceased relatives with satan. if the satan they believe in is anything like the satan in christianity, i am speachless. why would anyone want that for their loved one(s)? i'd love to see a satanist's response.

| i'm confused. what do Satanists believe exactly? | 18-12-2004 19:46 redrum243 | 170 posts
| Well I'm not Nighthobbit but I do know some things. For a start Satanists do NOT believe in Satan as a god. He is merely a force of nature and represents human nature (as far as I'm aware). I find it more a philosophy than a religion but I think the ideas of an afterlife are considered stupid. Then again Satanism is all about getting what you want so I guess they imagine their loved ones in places they would have been happy. I'm not a Satanist so I can't really say but then again I've only just started looking into it and a lot of it makes a lot of sense. Hope that helped. | 16-06-2005 09:01 sellittome | 381 posts
| Thats true, they don't worship the 'Christian' Satan. Satan is the dark force in nature.
In the Royal Navy they have now accepted a sailor's religion as satanism. | 16-06-2005 09:05 Im_Nucking_Futs | 3,192 posts

| I read that there are two types of Satanism. Or three? One is LaVeyan Satanism which is pretty much the Christian idea of Satanism. There is true Satanism where Satan is regarded much like the God of Christianity, and third, which may be apart of any of the preceding two, Satanism emphasizing the worship of self.
And I'm probably completely wrong about all of this. | 05-12-2005 18:07 NightHobbit |

| there are two types
Atheistic Satanism where Satan is not worshipped and is a force of nature this is the lavayen form.
Then theistic where satan is worshipped asa god. |
