I really really hate copy protected cds. They are so unfair. It just means that I can't enjoy my music. I bought the Greatest Hits of the Red Hot Chili Peppers. I've only listened to it once because it crashed my computer, then I discovered that I couldn't use it on my minidisc player, or an i-pod, and that I had to use it only on a cd player and I had to have the original cd with me. Because of that, whenever I see a copy-protected cd, I download it instead. So what does the artist gain from that?!

I do buy cds if I like the music, I own more music from cd than I do downloaded music. My bedroom is overflowing with cds. But if it's copy-protected, I won't buy it. My sister just emailed me the entire new Good Charlotte album, which her friend got around the copy protection on. So it's not even secure... Anyway, this concludes my rant for today, any feedback?

hey I understand your frustration. I have read that a celine dion album, if endeavoured to be copied, will lock up. If repeatedly done, it will crash your computer. Talk about draconic measures [laughs]

yeh i hate it. i got around the living end cd tho. theres always a loophole. it sucks. ok like millions of people buy their cds, whats a million more who download it gonna do?! Thats more people listening to their music, and going to their shows! Thats what they should care more about. Although i do understand it. Blahh.. back to the dreaded essay due in tomorrow morning...

It's annoying. And anyway, it's legal to copy music for personal use.. As long as you don't burn it, or make any money from it. You're allowed to copy it onto your computer and listen to it, right? Why else would Windows Media Player have a cd-ripper?

Well what is the point of having a minidisc/mp3 player if you can only download music for it? I don't have a credit card so I can't download music legally unless it's free, and free legal downloads are limited. I also like to have a hard copy of my music, on cd. But when the cd tries to install programs to play itself, which mean that I can't run anything else at the same time, it drives me mad
