| Whoa, that was an amazing video...
::sits in a daze for a few minutes::
I think it was about a man who has been all his life trying to escape something, his shell, his family, his depression -- but then, when he finally finds a way to escape it all, its too late, or he sees that he never will no matter what. Just my humble opinion, but yeah, that was amazing | 06-02-2003 04:10 wiser | 109 posts
| has anybody else seen it? my computers cruddy. so I only saw a spotty video at best. | 06-02-2003 04:14 wiser | 109 posts
| Burning Jones? what did you make of the 4 band members in the begining? were they fate or something? i really need to see a sharper version. damn my crappy computer! | 06-02-2003 04:14 Burning_Jones | 1,329 posts
| I have broadband, so it came out really well, and I could see it full screen. Would you like me to describe it for you? | 06-02-2003 04:16 Burning_Jones | 1,329 posts
| Ok, those were the band members? Well, let me think. Yeah it could be fate, but it could also be hope, or a goal, they seemed to be watching the boy so they might have just been observing, watching, noting.
That goes down as one of my favorite videos of all time. | 06-02-2003 04:18 Burning_Jones | 1,329 posts
| Also, near the end, it seemed like the old man closed the boy out of his little room, almost like he was trying to kill all the hopes he saw he could not have. | 06-02-2003 22:31 wiser | 109 posts
| I think those were the band members (remember on a scale of 1-10 my computer would roughly be a -4) what'd you think about the watch? | 06-02-2003 22:41 wiser | 109 posts
| yes Burning Jones, please describe it.
heres how I saw it:
the band members hudle in the screen. the boy prays to the picture, then he lifts it up and crawls in. he looks at his watch and then the girl (?) laughs at him thats when the music kicks in. then he steals (?) a chair from that flood area scribles something in the wall in his shrine (something like 7 years), and paints a cross with blood (?) then hes the old man finds a key and then dies and the key falls down the cliff.
"The Unforgiven 2" Is also a pretty good music video. | 06-02-2003 22:44 wiser | 109 posts
| To see it go to www.Metallica.com then click media, then albums then search on the right for a torado art cover (its named Reload) then search for "The Unforgiven 2" on the left | 06-02-2003 22:54 Burning_Jones | 1,329 posts
| Ok, well thats... a computer at a -4 alright. Here's how it went.
The band was just there, like I said, like they were watching, mainly a shadow of them.
The boy kneels under the poster to crawl behind where there is an opening similar to a tunnel, which takes him to his little place. Once there he tries to use either the key or a pick -- I can't tell which -- and tries to reach up to a certain point where he can start carving a door in the stone wall. But he can't reach. So he tries to build up a pile of dirt to stand on and in the process finds a watch buried in the dirt. The pile of earth he makes isn't high enough and frustrated he goes back through his little tunnel and to the room with the poster. THen we see him sitting on a chair talking inaudibly with a little girl about his age. They talk for a while, then we see the boy dragging the chair he was sitting on across open ground to his little room with the poster, which is when the music kicks in. He has some trouble getting the chair into the tunnel but finally he makes it to his little hideout and can reach his future door quite well. He starts carving the door into the stone wall. Over the period of the song we see that this takes a long time as he goes from boy to teen to man to old man. THe writing you saw on the wall I believe was his blood from cuts he gets when using the pick. Finally he gets the door all carved out when he's an old man. He sets the stone slab he takes out of the wall in front of the tunnel leading to the room with the poster which seems to block out a backflash of the boy who is crawling toeard him through the tunnel. He then looks up at the opening and it seems that the band is looking down at him. But he has no way to get out of the room through the opening as he is old and can barely walk. So he takes the key and throws it out through the opening, then lays down and dies (I'm assuming)
Wow, amazing video... | 06-02-2003 23:26 wiser | 109 posts
| "The Unforgiven 2" is very weird. it has walls breking, weird light, and a book eats someone up. (I think). It dosen't touch me the way "The Unforgiven" did, but it sounds nice anyway | 07-02-2003 22:27 wiser | 109 posts
| did you see "The Unforgiven 2" yet Burning Jones? | 08-02-2003 01:04 Burning_Jones | 1,329 posts
| nope, but I plan to tonight | 08-02-2003 03:04 wiser | 109 posts
| it makes "The Unforgiven" less sad because in 2 the old man is alive and well (he even does a spiffy little dance . Oh, by the way the art cover is NOT a tornado, it looks more like a tunnel going left-to-right. u should find it. | 08-02-2003 03:10 built2liv | 5,278 posts
| I just d/l the first video and watched it, very impressive I must say. | 08-02-2003 04:22 Burning_Jones | 1,329 posts
| Wiser, I'll look for it... I tell ya I didn't know a lot about Metallica before I decided to help you and your poor computer out and now I'm thinking I like em... | 08-02-2003 18:40 wiser | 109 posts
| thaks for everything Burning Jones. Metallicas an easy band to like. you should watch "the Unforgiven 2". it sounds really good. you can also listen to some great songs on the sight. some choice ones from the black album are:
"enter sandman"
"the unforgiven"
"don't tread on me"
"nothing else matters
"the God that failed"
*the album with "the unforgiven" isnt actually called the black album, its really named "Metallica" but I think "the black album" makes it easier to remember | 08-02-2003 18:46 wiser | 109 posts
| Reload is right below "Load" the art cover for Load looks like coraly fire thing | 08-02-2003 19:39 Burning_Jones | 1,329 posts
| Thanks wiser I'll check those out... Enter Sandman sounds really intriguing....
I was going to watch the Unforgiven 2 last night, I WANTED to, but my computer was giving me hell so I had to put it off till today... I'll be doing that later... gotta do a little work right now ::sigh:: school ::sigh:: | 09-02-2003 02:45 wiser | 109 posts
| if you truly want to see Metallica at their best, listen to the black album and any album before it (or watch and listen if its a music video). not to put Metallica down but James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich, Kirk Hammet and Jason newsted stoped being Metallica when Load came out. the only great song of theirs after that has been "The Unforgiven 2" |
