*Introductory theme tune*

Rules of the quiz:
- One answer per person (per round)
- Always give the answer you think the fewest amount of people would know
- If two people give the same answer in a short space of time, the first person's answer will be accepted (but the second can answer again)
- When applicable, a player may pick the same subject as another contestant and provide a different answer if they believe the other to be incorrect
- If you play the first round, please check back in case you make it through to Round #2
- Resist cheating (i.e. looking up answers; asking others)

And of course, respect your fellow contestants and have fun!

Round #1 will be posted shortly and will remain open until Monday (or, when applicable, until each answer is taken) to give everyone a chance of replying.

I actually have an outstanding facial recognition according to some...

Its the names I forget....quite often even those close to me!

But I remember "titles" or "job functions" of the person or other little bits and pieces of personal information----but never their name.... And I've been at events introduced to several hundred people in rapid succession---I've tried all the memory games and methods they sell (took one class) and all don't work with me.... but faces? I still remember faces from 30-40 years ago like yesterday....as to who they are-by name? I don't know!

Its ok Joey.... to not have good facial recognition, as you have other strong points you should learn to develop and emphasize more..... Remember, there are all types of people in the world... some are "people" people and others are more into "things" type of person. I'm a "visual" person (shows my connections to photography et al)--remembering photos I've taken over the years. I think you had a Pointless Questions about famous buildings in London....or photos of animals of Africa/world I got them all as I remembered them all seeing them but once...even fleetingly.

OK, here are your five choices!

CATS
LITERARY JOHNS
'MIDNIGHT' MOVIES
SOUTH AFRICA (Hehehoho)
THE BLUES BROTHERS

Which will it be?

I forgot to say they all have three sub-categories.

Hmm. They all sound hard. I'm gonna go with cats.

One of the pair who answered this question was called Tabby, ha. Also, I have a story about how I came to know a pointless answer only a day or two before, but I'll tell it after you've answered.

"Final"

You know the drill! You have three chances to get a pointless answer and you can take them from any of the three sub-categories below. Good luck!! I am looking for any...

TICA CAT BREEDS
...of the 63 different cat breeds recognised by The International Cat Association

CATS IN 'TOP CAT'
...cats in 'Top Cat' apart from Top Cat/Boss Cat himself

SONGS FROM THE MUSICAL 'CATS'
...songs on the original 1981 cast recording of the musical 'Cats' apart from overtures, reprises, or anything that's in the middle of another song

OK. I don't think I know any pointless cat breeds, and I can't remember anything from Top Cat, but I used to love the musical, so I will use that one for all three.

Least to most likely:

Skimbleshanks, the Railway Cat
The Jellicle Ball
Rumpleteaser and Griddlebone

(I probably spelt the last one horribly wrong. If that's even the title. )

Haha. My Mum said Cats was the worst she's ever seen at the theatre, because it makes no sense. But I'm glad there was something there you know a fair bit about...let's see if your old love pays off. Was SKIMBLESHANKS, THE RAILWAY CAT a correct and pointless answer?

It was! Congrats, Lisa. Very well played. You win our big fat jackpot of nothing and the glory of a Pointless winner.

THE JELLICLE BALL also would've been pointless, but I think your last answer must be wrong. Seems the song is titled Mungojerrie & Rumpleteazer. But never mind!

Yay! I hoped it would be something about the musical when I chose cats. That or literary cats or something.

I came back on now because I was lying in bed and I realised I had the names wrong. Griddlebone is a different cat that is mentioned with the other two at some point.

I saw Cats when I was 14, and I loved it then, and I still get the Skimbleshanks song in my head quite often. But no, it makes no sense.

What did the rest score? I expect there'd be a few pointless answers.

The only songs that scored points were MEMORY, MR MISTOFFOLEES, THE RUM TUM TUGGER, OLD DEUTERONOMY, and THE NAMING OF CATS .

You could've had any of these for the "pointless" breeds

AMERICAN BOBTAIL
BRITISH LONGHAIR
EGYPTIAN MAU
EXOTIC SHORTHAIR
JAPANESE BOBTAIL
MUNCHKIN
MUNCHKIN LONGHAIR
PIXIE-BOB
PIXIE-BOB LONGHAIR
SCOTTISH STRAIGHT
SCOTTISH FOLD
SNOWSHOE
TONKINESE
TOYGER
TURKISH VAN

And here's my story: A day or two before this came up as a round on the show (it was very recent), I'd been sucked into the world of YouTube and ended up watching a few of those '73 Questions with...' videos. As I was watching Taylor Swift name as many cat breeds as she could in ten seconds, I was sat there wondering to myself why the heck I was watching Taylor Swift name cat breeds...and then, lo and behold, this question was on. And Taylor Swift named three of those pointless answers in her ten seconds of cat naming. So, good job, Taylor Swift. Thanks for the pointless knowledge.

There was only one pointless answer for the Top Cat cats. I don't think many people are following the thread, otherwise I'd ask if there were any fans of the show who could hazard a guess at which character it was. As it is, I'll just tell you it was FANCY-FANCY.

YAY! Way yo go, Lisa!

Hehe, I knew before I clicked it that I'd be rockin' out to South Africa! And I will click the link every time because I love it!

Me too! Can't not be done. I've no idea why I enjoy it so much, but I do! And damn is it catchy I'm not sure I'll ever be able to hear "South Africa" without thinking of it...

Yay LIsa! Pointless on the first one!

You are a most worthy opponent in this game!

You know all the Cats The Musical Songs!!

All I ever saw was the 1998 Andrew Lloyd Webber's movie made of the Musical...

I had several opportunities to see it live in the theater, but lost, and lost, and lost, every time... but I hear its coming back! hope springs eternal I can finally arrange to be actually in the audience someday to experience it all surrounding me with the famous songs all live theater the way it was meant to be seen and experienced!

Thanks for the 73 Vogue questions Joey--never knew about it...'a.d.d.i.c.t.i.v.e' and it must be staged--she just happened to have "vogue" on scrabble board and that guy/boyfriend who was outside without a coat on---couldn't catch what he said.
