basically there hasn't been another television show that has ever aired that could match the simpsons in terms of quality of story and jokes between their 3rd and 9th seasons.

Plenty of other animated shows tried and failed to get out from under their shadow. South park came close, but some of their subject matter was too inappropriate for a mixed audience, and family guy got way too stupid after their 3rd of 4th season. Futurama, while solid, bever had the broad nearly family feel. It really was (and still technically is) a generational type show, a standout of late 20th and early 21st century animation

Sometimes I think my Mum is like a slightly less crazy, skinny, English version of Cartman.

I'm a pun fan. Even the awful Christmas ones we get in crackers year after year. They're like Killer Klowns and Kung Fury. So bad they're good.
