Morbo cannot read his teleprompter. He forgot how you say that letter that looks like a man wearing a hat.

*Introductory theme tune*

Rules of the quiz:
- One answer per person (per round)
- Always give the answer you think the fewest amount of people would know
- If two people give the same answer in a short space of time, the first person's answer will be accepted (but the second can answer again)
- When applicable, a player may pick the same subject as another contestant and provide a different answer if they believe the other to be incorrect
- If you play the first round, please check back in case you make it through to Round #2
- Resist cheating (i.e. looking up answers; asking others)

And of course, respect your fellow contestants and have fun!

Round #1 will be posted shortly and will remain open until Monday (or, when applicable, until each answer is taken) to give everyone a chance of replying.

* offtopic :
The records of previous winners and pointless answers can be found here.

No, you won that point. This round is a "first to three questions" round, so if you score the lowest on the next question, you win the quiz! If Ant scores lowest, we have a third question which decides the winner.

Welcome! Sorry you weren't clear.

Don't forget (again), the aim is always to go for the answer you think the fewest amount of people would know.

Apologies for once again forgetting to go through the other answers before moving on... From ROUND #2

Scott took the best answer on the board with Japanese. Second best would have been DANISH for THE EMPEROR'S NEW CLOTHES (6 points).

Then GERMAN (7) for THE SWISS FAMILY ROBINSON.

LITTLE DORRIT was first published in ENGLISH, and that somehow only scored 33 points.

WAR AND PEACE was in RUSSIAN - 47 for that.

And THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME was, you would think obviously, first published in FRENCH, but that only scored fifty-nine.

HEAD-TO-HEAD, PART 2

Got to win this one to stay in it, Ant. Your second question concerns...

THE COLOUR ORANGE

I'm going to give you five clues now relating to the colour orange - can you give me the most obscure answer?

THE TWO PRIMARY COLOURS BETWEEN WHICH ORANGE SITS ON NEWTON'S COLOUR WHEEL

AUTHOR OF THE 1985 NOVEL 'ORANGES ARE NOT THE ONLY FRUIT'

DIRECTOR OF THE 1971 FILM 'A CLOCKWORK ORANGE'

ARTIST WHO RELEASED THE 2012 ALBUM 'CHANNEL ORANGE'

EUROPEAN NATIONAL SOCCER TEAM KNOWN FOR PLAYING IN ORANGE KIT

Scott's said JEANETTE WINTERSON for the author. Is that right? What does it score if so?

Seven! Brilliant score. Her semi-autobiography about a young lesbian raised in an English Pentecostal community. Have you read it, Scott?

So FRANK OCEAN, if it's right, has to beat seven... Did he release 'Channel Orange' and can it take us low enough for a decider question?

Yep, the answers you gave were the best on the board; the others were significantly higher. :] I get the feeling we're not great on albums. Also, haha, bananas (deliberate?)

STANLEY KUBRICK was the third best answer - he directed the film 'A Clockwork Orange' and scored 31 points.

RED AND YELLOW are the colours orange sits between on the colour wheel; they scored 60 points.

And THE NETHERLANDS is the soccer team known for playing in the colour - one higher (61) for them.

HEAD-TO-HEAD, DECIDER

Good job both of you on taking it to the deciding question. It concerns...

HOSPITAL ITEMS

I'm going to show you five items now that you might typically find in a hospital, but I've removed alternate letters from their names. Fill in the gaps, give me the most obscure, and you win the point and the quiz. Best of luck to you both!

I _ T _ A _ E _ O _ S / _ R _ P

S _ R _ B _

B _ D _ A _

C _ U _ C _ E _

S _ R _ I _ A _ / M _ S _

It can! Only three points! That means for the first time, Scott is the winner of the Pointless quiz! Really great going, Scott. But I think this might be one of our lowest-scoring quizzes yet across all of the boards; you both played exceedingly well.

I'm afraid I have no science question at the moment, but hopefully you'll know a little something about at least one or two of these. Your categories this quiz are

20th CENTURY THEATRE
CHILDREN'S ANIMATED FILMS
DEBUT SOLO ALBUMS
LITERARY JOHNS
POETRY

Please note that "theatre" in this case means plays, not films. Which one will it be?
