*Introductory theme tune*

Rules of the quiz:
- One answer per person (per round)
- Always give the answer you think the fewest amount of people would know
- If two people give the same answer in a short space of time, the first person's answer will be accepted (but the second can answer again)
- When applicable, a player may pick the same subject as another contestant and provide a different answer if they believe the other to be incorrect
- If you play the first round, please check back in case you make it through to Round #2
- Resist cheating (i.e. looking up answers; asking others)

And of course, respect your fellow contestants and have fun!

Round #1 will be posted shortly and will remain open until Monday (or, when applicable, until each answer is taken) to give everyone a chance of replying.

Well played, Sierra and Practice!

Was there anything we could have said to beat those two?

There was indeed. Sorry, haven't been on the computer until now.

The lowest scorer was 1 one-pointer for two British guys called SAM AND MARK with the song With a Little Help from My Friends.

There was another answer that scored 9 and would've created a tie - GARETH GATES, who was the runner-up in the first series of Pop Idol (the show we had before The X Factor), had a #1 here with Unchained Melody.

They were the only two that could've seen someone else through, but I would've been really surprised if anyone had said them.

The girl band ATOMIC KITTEN scored 10 points for their cover of Eternal Flame.

WET WET WET scored 14 points, too, for their version of With a Little Help from My Friends.

(Despite it being their original song, The Beatles' version never went to #1.)

As I've already said, FRANK & NANCY SINATRA scored 18 for Somethin' Stupid, and ROBBIE WILLIAMS AND NICOLE KIDMAN scored 19 for their cover.

(HARRY) NILSSON scored 18 for Without You.

ROBSON & JEROME scored 30 points for Unchained Melody and THE RIGHTEOUS BROTHERS scored 34 for their version.

STEPS would've scored you 37 for Tragedy - a song I loved in my adolescence - and the BEE GEES scored 48 for their original song.

Thank you for revealing again the other scorers on that question........ I was surprised twice.... 1. I chose the right name of the 3 fuzzy memories of someone long ago... and 2. that so few others also remembered him there out of the 100 people asked.

HEAD-TO-HEAD, PART 1

Welcome back to the Head-to-Head, Sierra and Practice. First to three questions wins the quiz. I'm going to give you an easy first question, because it's one of the US-related ones that there seems to be quite a few of. So to save me having dozens at once, your question concerns...

US STATE CAPITALS

I'm about to show you the names of five US state capitals now, but in anagram form. Can you unscramble them and give me the most obscure? Good luck!

I'm ready. I forget the rules here... Do I go first as lowest score on Round #2? Or does Sierra go first? (nice ladies first) Or does it not matter?

It doesn't matter who goes first now, but the one who goes second on this question goes first the next.

Anyway, sorry for the wait! Let's find out who won the first point.

Sierra went first and chose PROVIDENCE of Rhode Island, a previous low-scorer on at least a couple of quizzes, I think. Safe choice, then? Let's find out. It scores...

Practice is going to have to score the same to stay in it... Is INDIANAPOLIS also pointless?

Just a crazy thought.... with everyone having the edit function.... we might have to think of a new word for the web (like spam, spamming, etc.) if people start dueling it out for 15 minutes at a time in posts/editing and re-editing their posts to each other all within 15 minutes

There were a couple of answers that scored lower than Indianapolis, though not pointless - AUSTIN scored only 7 and COLUMBUS scored 11 points.

DENVER was the highest scorer by quite a lot - 42 points.

HEAD-TO-HEAD, PART 2

As you said, you get to answer first this time, Practice, but you need to win it to stay in the game. Remember, give the answer you think the fewest people would know. Your second question concerns...

MATHEMATICS

I'm about to give you five clues to facts about mathematics. Can you give me the most obscure answer?

POSITIVE SQUARE ROOT OF 169

NAME GIVEN TO THE NUMBER THAT APPEARS BELOW THE LINE IN A FRACTION

TERM COMMONLY GIVEN TO AN ANGLE OF LESS THAN 90 DEGREES

BRITISH MATHEMATICIAN, FELLOWSHIP DISSERTATION ENTITLED 'ON THE GAUSSIAN ERROR FUNCTION'

VALUE OF THE ROMAN NUMERALS 'XL'
