The LSI museum is online!

I'm missing some information about the LSI Postcards. If anybody can help, that would be great

The picture listed as postcard 2 is actually of postcard 1. If i remember correctly, the second card was lost in the mail.

Does anyone still keep in touch with Carole? Maybe she has it or the discussion?

The card numbering is confusing. We had one card that was lost early on (and it was secret so there's no thread). Has there been another attempt to organise a card? But there are only two that have actually made it through.

Haven't heard from Carole in years (or what feels like years. Not sure).

I haven't, either.

Museum is brilliant, Ray. Great for nostalgia.

I think the secret one is the one I'm thinking about that was lost. But that picture for "postcard 2" is definitely actually "postcard 1"

This is true. I signed postcard 1 right under carole's name, but never even knew about postcard 2 until it had finished.

I also like that you can see my "artwork" on the third one from the thumbnail on the HOF page

Thank you Ray! I missed out on all the growth and development and your hard work that went into making LSI the site that it is today. Its great to learn so much about all of these, the daily polls too.

Ah, the old 2004ish layout. Nostalgic.

Needed: member hall of fame

Always nice seeing the old yellow layout.
Only pictures there, but if you go on the archive site you can still click around them like they're current, even better for nostalgia, lol.

A member hall of fame how, like oldest members?
Or perhaps oldest members that are still (at least fairly recently) active.

Just wondering, why is part of the second postcard blurred? Did Carole request that her message be hidden?

Carole is a sneaky sneaky individual.

If I remember correctly, someone fairly early on with the postcard decided to write Carole's name and address there instead of putting it in an envelope, hense her then blurring it out before she put it online.

Nice post cards! Yeah, I figured it was an address since it was censored out.

You almost remember correctly. It wasn't early on, it was the last person. Otherwise it wouldn't have been Carole's address.

interesting

So the second card got lost, what's the story behind that?

Actually, I think it goes like this. (I'm going by the numbers in the thread titles)

Postcard 1 (2008-2009): Carole started it, everything went great, and that's now the one listed as postcard 2 in the museum.

Postcard 2 (2009): A thread was started, some people expressed interest, but it was very soon after the first, and no one took charge and made it happen. A postcard was never actually sent, just talked about.

Secret postcard (2009-2010): Carole had the idea to send around a postcard as a surprise for one person, so it was all organised in PMs, no thread. I think it only reached about four people before being lost (not sure if it got lost in the mail or if someone had it and forgot. I think maybe the person who was supposed to get it was moving or something, so it's possible it got lost in that confusion.) Only a handful of people even knew about it, I believe. So this card doesn't have a number.

Postcard 3 (2014-2015): The one we just finished not too long ago.

So basically they wrote it there by accident, without thinking, when they were supposed to write it on the envelope? Or did they just not have an envelope and mail it using the space on the postcard?

They didn't have an envelope, and apparently their post office didn't have one either.
