*Introductory theme tune*

To me and Jeff and our recent/upcoming birthdays. BYOC (...cake). Also, it's World Naked Gardening Day. Go and plant a tree in the nuddy. I'm not watching.

Rules of the quiz:
- One answer per person (per round)
- Always give the answer you think the fewest amount of people would know
- If two people give the same answer in a short space of time, the first person's answer will be accepted (but the second can answer again)
- When applicable, a player may pick the same subject as another contestant and provide a different answer if they believe the other to be incorrect
- If you play the first round, please check back in case you make it through to Round #2
- Resist cheating (i.e. looking up answers; asking others)

And of course, respect your fellow contestants and have fun!

Round #1 will be posted shortly and will remain open until Monday (or, when applicable, until each answer is taken) to give everyone a chance of replying.

* offtopic :
The records of previous winners and pointless answers can be found here.

Did you know all of the others, Sarah?

Yeah. I figured this one or bicycle race would score better than we will rock you or we are the champions

Ah, that's a shame. One of them would've won you the point - BICYCLE RACE only scored 16 points. Sorry!

WE WILL ROCK YOU scored 54 and WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS scored a whopping 82 points.

GTFO, I would have thought Bicycle Race would score way higher

aww darn! I figured a picture of bicycles was a dead giveaway for that one.

Haha, I don't know, maybe people weren't sure of the name? I knew there's a Queen song with the lyrics, "I want to ride my bicycle..." - I know the tune/how it's sung - but before this I wouldn't have remembered the title, so maybe some of the one hundred encountered the same problem.

HEAD-TO-HEAD, PART 2

You've got to win this one to stay in it, Sarah, but you get to go first this time. Your second question concerns...

THE YEAR 1914

I'm going to give you five clues now to facts about things that happened in the year 1914 - can you tell me the most obscure of these?

BRITAIN DECLARED WAR ON THIS NATION ON AUGUST 4TH

PRESIDENT WOODROW WILSON PROCLAIMED THIS MAY NATIONAL HOLIDAY IN THE US

GEORGE BERNARD SHAW PLAY PERFORMED IN ENGLAND FOR THE FIRST TIME, LATER ADAPTED INTO 'MY FAIR LADY'

COMEDY CHARACTER PLAYED BY CHARLIE CHAPLIN FIRST SEEN IN 'KID AUTO RACES AT VENICE'

GALLERY IN WHICH SUFFRAGETTE MARY RICHARDSON SLASHED THE ROKEBY VENUS

I'm gonna wing it with this one. There are only 2 national holidays in May and I'm hoping Brits don't remember them.

So the "Woodrow Wilson proclaims etc etc" (sorry, on my phone) = Mother's Day.

Wow, this was a hard topic, I have no idea on any of them but the most obvious

Winging it as in not knowing if we'd know or not being sure which of the two holidays it is?

Well, Sarah's gone for MOTHER'S DAY - is that right? How many of the 100 said it if so?

Go on, then. I'll get the result in before bed tonight, but any guesses on what Joe's answer scored? (Since I think we know it won't also be pointless.)

Even if they get confused between WW1 and WW2 the answer is the same. If it's that low I will be genuinely shocked.

Seventy-nine people. That's not too bad...but it still makes me cringe a little. I guess the other twenty-one somehow managed to spent their whole lives avoiding the subject of recent history.

Anyway, well done, Sarah! You did what you needed to do there.

The next best scorer was the GALLERY IN WHICH SUFFRAGETTE MARY RICHARDSON SLASHED THE ROKEBY VENUS, which was THE NATIONAL GALLERY - that scored 5 points. The National Gallery is in London.

The COMEDY CHARACTER PLAYED BY CHARLIE CHAPLIN FIRST SEEN IN 'KID AUTO RACES AT VENICE' was called 'THE TRAMP'. Lovely. It scored 14 points.

And this one might ring a bell once you hear it: The GEORGE BERNARD SHAW PLAY...LATER ADAPTED INTO 'MY FAIR LADY' was 'PYGMALION'. Sometimes contestants will say the wrong one when giving an answer. 'My Fair Lady' is the Audrey Hepburn musical/film that was adapted from 'Pygmalion' the play.

HEAD-TO-HEAD, DECIDER

Your third and final question concerns...

MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL PLAYERS

Following traditional play, Joe's up first again. I'm going to give you the names of five baseball players, but I've removed alternate letters. The most obscure answer wins the point and the quiz. Good luck to you both.

T_ / C_B_

H_R_O_ / _I_L_B_E_

B_B_ / R_T_

J_E / _I_A_G_O

Where have you gone, Joe DiMaggio?

BABE RUTH was the highest scorer on 28 points.

MICKEY MANTLE scored almost as low as Ty, on 4 points.

And the best scorer was HARMON KILLEBREW, who was a pointless answer.
