*Introductory theme tune*

Dedicated to Kim Jong-un's new hairstyle.

Rules of the quiz:
- One answer per person (per round)
- Always give the answer you think the fewest amount of people would know
- If two people give the same answer in a short space of time, the first person's answer will be accepted (but the second can answer again)
- When applicable, a player may pick the same subject as another contestant and provide a different answer if they believe the other to be incorrect
- If you play the first round, please check back in case you make it through to Round #2
- Resist cheating (i.e. looking up answers; asking others)

And of course, respect your fellow contestants and have fun!

Round #1 will be posted shortly and will remain open until Monday (or, when applicable, until each answer is taken) to give everyone a chance of replying.

* offtopic :
The records of previous winners and pointless answers can be found here.

I just assume it depends on the 100 people. You have to remember the scores come from them. Maybe most of this 100 were older people who never watched Friends, played Mario, etc. but remember films and shows from decades ago, except for Sarah's because it was played on an American cartoon network that we probably didn't have.

Cartoon Network use to play older cartoons when I was a kid, especially Saturday mornings.

Random fact (that you'll probably know if you're a 'Friends' fan ): 'Marcel' was actually a female monkey.

Upon Googling just then, I found a recently posted article about more the monkey has been in.

ROUND #2

Your category for Round #2 is...

SHAKESPEARE

And the question concerns...

WORDS OF FIVE LETTERS OR MORE IN THE TITLES OF SHAKESPEARE'S PLAYS

B gets her Shakespeare round. I'm looking for any word of five letters or more, excluding numbers and proper nouns (i.e. person or place names), in any of Shakespeare's plays. Good luck!

Answers so far:

WIVES (Bruna)
TAMING (Sarah)
ERRORS (Jen)

And if Anthony and Practice would like to answer again - you missed the "excluding numbers and proper nouns" line, which I've now marked in bold font.

So sorry I did not reply back right away Joey--I read the post when it had the quote line only while it was up---and said oh well--there goes Round Two---oops! So thanks for the extra line and repeating it above on page 3 that we can both go again....

Ok, before someone else takes it (now that I get the method)
Errors
Its appropriate for me since I made so many many recently....

ROUND #2 RESULTS

She didn't disappoint.

Lisa: X 100 (LABOUR)
Anthony: 36 (DREAM)
Sarah: 23 (TAMING)
Practice: 6 (COMEDY)

Jen: 5 (ERRORS)
Bruna: 4 (WIVES)

Sorry, Lisa, it's LABOUR'S, but it wouldn't have seen you through anyway (9 points). However, if you'd said LOVE'S (LOVE'S LABOUR'S LOST), it would have scored 3 points and seen you through. Tough luck.

Commiserations to the rest of you; thanks for playing, and congrats to Jen and B, who once again face off in our head-to-head! It's been a while (quiz #17, apparently).

But "labour's" isn't a word, it's a contraction of two. So I took a guess that labour would count. But yeah, doesn't matter. Weird how "love's" was better.

*Shrug* That's how it was on the show; I follow their rules, sorry.

Yeah. People often mistakenly assume that longer words always score lower, but given they're in the same title, it is rather strange.

Really? B and I haven't faced off since Quiz #17? Wow, it doesn't feel like it was so long ago. Perhaps I'm just used to B always being around for these.

Wondering what the remaining words of the low scorers Play titles were----you see where I was thinking same as Jen--Comedy of Errors---had two good words in it.... so just one example, where was "Merry" from the Merry Wives of Windsor? (Since Windsor was a Proper Noun and not allowed)

I always mean to give other answers, thanks for the reminder.

MIDSUMMER ('A Midsummer Night's Dream') was the highest scorer on 43 points; NIGHT'S scored 25; and we've had DREAM on 36.

NOTHING also scored 36, as in 'Much Ado About Nothing', but ABOUT scored significantly lower on 19 points.

MERCHANT ('The Merchant of Venice') scored 29 - obviously Venice is a proper noun and therefore wasn't allowed.

We had TAMING on 23 from 'The Taming of the Shrew'; SHREW would've scored slightly higher on 25 points.

TEMPEST ('The Tempest') scored 25 also.

From 'The Two Gentlemen of Verona', GENTLEMAN scored 12 points.

MERRY from 'The Merry Wives of Windsor' scored 6; we've had WIVES on 4. [Edited, misread MERRY's]

As I said, LOVE'S - as in Love's Labour's Lost - would have only scored 3.

A couple of other 4 pointers... WINTER'S ('A Winter's Tale') and MEASURE ('Measure for Measure') - apparently having the word appear twice in the title didn't help.

That's how it was on the show; I follow their rules, sorry.

Yeah, I know. Weird to me, but now I know for future reference. Unless they do it differently in different rounds, in which case I will be cross.

Well done, B and Jen. Those we really good choices. This round just made me think how many of his plays have proper nouns for titles and were no good.

HEAD-TO-HEAD, PART 1

Jen and B, welcome to your eleventh and twelfth Head-to-Head. Your first question concerns...

I probably shouldn't go with this one, but I am.
