So my song help thread is long dead at this point and I don't want to bump it. However, I do want to reboot the thread in a new sort of way.

I've mentioned in my previous thread before that when transcribing songs, I came to the realization that if I post my transcription with missing parts, then those missing parts will also sound indecipherable to another listener's ears. However, if I just let them transcribe the whole song themselves, they may hear it perfectly clear. So that is what I'm going to do this time around and see if this works out; I'll be posting links to songs that anyone here can feel free to give a shot at transcribing.

When I began my old thread, several different users were helping me transcribe songs, but by the end of its course, it all came down to solely Joeyy helping me and no one else. I want to see if that can change this time. Of course I can't control whether that can change or not, but I noticed tequizasunrise and kalsonberry were very instrumental in helping myself and others transcribe lyrics before, so hopefully I can recruit them to assist in my endeavors once again. If this thread fails once more, I'll probably try bringing it to another music forum and see how that fares.

Anyways, without further ado, I'll start with these five songs:

Milquetoast & Co. - "Love and Tonic"
Jigsaw - "I've Seen the Film, I've Read the Book"
Strawberry Alarm Clock - "Sea Shell"
Jo Jo Gunne - "I Wanna Love You"
Acid Witch - "Intro" (This track's "lyrics" are spoken-word, and there is literally one word I am unsure about)

And please don't feel unaccomplished if you can't make out every single word, any assistance helps me a lot. Thanks!

Problems all around
Problems all around
Problems all around
Problems all around

I met a woman late last night, but I don't remember her name
Now she calls me, shouting, all upset, saying, "A man is gonna do me in"

Oo-ah
Oo-ah
Oo-ah
Oo-ah

Late for work, I run to get my car, only to find it isn't there
So I jumped the bus, but I had no money, had to run the (a?) mile instead

Problems all around
Problems all around
Problems all around
Problems all around

Sweating hard, trying to do my job, but the big boss has made other plans
He said, "Boy, you're fired, better pack your things and move your ass back home"

Problems all around
(Can ya hear me?)
Problems all around
(That's all I'm seeing)
Problems all around
(Oh, oh-oh-oh)
Problems all around

My house is really not so big, but I love it just all the same
Not careful with my cigarette, it burned down to the ground

Problems all around
(I can't believe it)
Problems all around
(All around me)
Problems all around
(Talkin' 'bout problems)
Problems all around

Killing myself over a drink or two, I sit down in a bar
When out walks the man of the woman I knew, with the looks as though he'll take me down (?)

Problems all around
(Huh)
Problems all around
Problems all around
(Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah)
Bright ones (?) all around

Oh
She says he's gonna do me in
She says he's gonna do me in
She says he's gonna do me in

Problems all around
Problems all around
(Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah)
Problems all around
(Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah)
Problems all around

Problems all around
(What should I do about it?)
Problems all around
(What should I do about it?)
Problems all around
(What should I do about it?)
Problems all around
(What should I do about it?)
Problems all around
(What should I do about it?)
Problems all around
(What should I do about it?)
Problems all around
(What should I do about it?)
Problems all around
(What should I do...?)

Wow, that was fast! Quite a bit of different stuff - but I'm very glad I took the song here. A lot of what you had made more sense compared to my transcription (here). I combined yours with mine and I'll submit it momentarily. Thanks very much

I really don't have too many qualms with anything you had, except for "What should I do about it?" at the end - I was pretty positive it's "What is it you're gonna do about it?", but I might be hearing the "s" sound from "problems". It makes more sense as "What should I do about it?" because of the previous problems he's faced in the lyrics, but I'm really having a hard time hearing that.

Also, I noticed you changed a random "problems all around" to "bright ones all around". I don't see why the line would suddenly change there unless there was context for it (you most likely heard the last "yeah" in the backing vocal for that part and thought the line sounded different because of it, since it's sung simultaneously).

Did you want me to listen to those two songs, Nicolas?

You don't have to - I'm already pretty confident with both and submitted them online, so it's too late, really.

You can give this one a shot, though, unless Joeyy beats you to it

Jason Ingriselli - "Stone Walls"

This isn't just any song - this song is significant because my cousin is the one singing! I briefly mentioned this in Randomness a few months back that I discovered he's starting a music career, and I'm very happy for him. The lyrics to this song aren't on his Bandcamp, though.

Again, I was able to get a lot of it myself, but there are a few unsure lines I wouldn't mind getting a second verification on.

I like it. Is he selling a CD/EP? Here is what I heard:

Jason Ingriselli - "Stone Walls" lyrics

Heading north
Nearly asleep at the wheel
Must have seen every mile marker by now
It's been a long day
Hunting down the sky life
Outlined by these fields, the stone walls, and the tall pines

Such a view makes me feel alive
Pulled off the road to rest my eyes
And those shadows move off into their own
The blue ridge mountains and there ain't this drive back home

Home is a breath away
And I'll miss the beauty
The stone walls from the highway
They take me back
To the hills near Ragged Mountain

The engine turns over in the morning dawn
It's been wearing on me this road I'm traveling on
Still I'm gunning for the horizon
And as the day opens up,
I feel the sun rising

Home is a breath away
And I'll miss the beauty
The stone walls from the highway
And they take me back
To the hills near Ragged Mountain

Home is a breath away
And I'll miss the beauty
Of the stone walls from the highway
They take me back
To the hills near Ragged Mountain

Hmm, a bit different from what I got at parts, but not terribly different. The main problem I had was the line "The blue ridge mountains and there ain't this drive back home", but I guess that could work. I had "skyline" instead of "sky life" - I really can't hear an "f" sound there, and I'd imagine it would make more sense there's a road named Skyline Drive that runs through the mentioned Blue Ridge Mountains (so maybe it should be capitalized?). For the line "It's been wearing on me this road I'm traveling on", I don't hear an "it's" or "I'm". It sounds like "Been wearing on me, this road traveling on".

Either way, I think I have enough between our transcriptions to submit it. I'm glad you like the song. He actually doesn't have a CD/EP out at the moment - only this single. But he has stated on his Facebook page that he has an album in the works.

I thought it could be sky life because he said hunting. It could be skyline.

I just think Skyline makes more sense here because of the Skyline Drive in the Blue Ridge Mountains. He might be using "hunting" in a different sense of the word, not necessarily the sport of hunting animals. Either way, the next line would make sense if he was referring to the road, as the road would be outlined by fields, stone walls, and tall pines.

I guess that could make sense. Would it be rude to ask him for the lyrics? Maybe he'll share them with you.

PS - Does he have a record deal/record label?

I already posted on his official Facebook page a few months ago suggesting that he posted the lyrics on his Bandcamp. He never responded to it, though. I could always send him a message on his Twitter, but I don't want to bother him. I'm pretty confident about these lyrics either way, there may be just one or two words slightly off, but it doesn't look too bad.

Also, I'm not too sure if he has a record label, I think he's independent currently.

Alright, after a three-week hiatus, I found a song I could use help with:

i-Ten - "Workin' for a Lovin'"

This is the only song on its album that doesn't have lyrics online. Help would be appreciated

Some corrections, there in all caps

" The lady looks like she's been around
She's covered a lot of ground
Too hot to handle, ain't gonna gamble
The lady knows love SURE AIN'T no game
She's been through too much pain

Too hot to handle, ain't gonna gamble
Too close for comfort, don't wanna get hurt
Too bad it's NO GOOD, I'd only lose

Lady's gonna make a fool of me
Gonna make a fool of me
Too hot to handle, ain't gonna gamble

Lady's gonna let you think you'll win
Then she's gonna let you lose
Too hot to handle, ain't gonna gamble
Too close for comfort, don't wanna get hurt
Too bad it's NO GOOD, I'd only lose

The lady's got a reputation here (?)
Got a reputation THERE
Too hot to handle, ain't gonna gamble

The lady's got a lot of satin charm (?)
And that can do YOU HARM
Too hot to handle, ain't gonna gamble
Too close for comfort, don't wanna get hurt
Too bad it's NO GOOD, I'd only lose

Too hot to handle, ain't gonna gamble
Too close for comfort, don't wanna get hurt
Too bad it's NO GOOD, I'd only lose "

I see you posted a transcription of a Giorgio Moroder song I posted here months ago. Thank you very much! I didn't realize anyone would be going back to older songs I posted on this thread. This helped a lot and I may be able to submit it now.

Could you perhaps try the song I just posted, as well?

Workin' for a Lovin'

Baby, I punch the clock
I work all day
It's just too much for too little a pay
When I come home, I wanna see you smile

Make me forget my worries
Oo, at least for a little while

'Cause I've been work, work
I've been workin' for a lovin'
Work, work
Yeah, workin' for a lovin'

I know I ain't no angel, baby
Take me to Heaven

This job is making me old before my time
It's dark and cold out in the morning [missing word]
And when I come, I'm feelin' half-alive

So wrap me up in your arms, girl
Oo, and make me feel real fine (?)

'Cause I've been work, work
I've been workin' for a lovin'
Work, work
Yeah, workin' for a lovin'

Yeah, I know I ain't no angel, baby
Take me to Heaven

Show me appreciation
Show me you understand
For just a little kindness
Baby, you got me (Baby, you got me)
Eating right out of your hand

Work, work

(Work)

Work, work
I've been workin' for a lovin'
Work, work
Yeah, workin' for a lovin'

Yeah, I know I ain't no angel, baby
Take me to Heaven

I've been workin' for a lovin' (Work, work)
Oo, baby
Work, work
I've been workin' for a lovin'

I know I ain't no angel, baby
Take me to Heaven

Work, work
I've been workin' for a lovin'
Work, work
Been workin' for a lovin'

I know I ain't no angel, baby
Take me to Heaven

Work, work
Work, work

I know I ain't no angel, baby
Take me to Heaven

This is what I heard for "The Beth Edges - Pure Dynamite"
I got (????) in that whispery section... I can't make it out
___________

Don't up and go, leave a sight to behold
Slow dance in slow-mo
Whoa, oh, oh, whoa, oh, oh
Whoa, oh, oh, whoa, oh, oh
It's up to you where to go, what to do
We'll see when we flow tonight
We are pure dynamite

[Chorus]
Let's seize the moment to ignite the fuse
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Whoa, oh, oh, whoa, oh, oh
We are pure dynamite
Let's seize the moment to ignite the fuse
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Whoa, oh, oh, whoa, oh, oh

No right, no wrong, truth, false, do's and dont's
In case you don't know
Whoa, oh, oh, whoa, oh, oh
Whoa, oh, oh, whoa, oh, oh
No, trouble won't trouble us anymore
You got to hold on tight
We are pure dynamite

[Chorus]
Let's seize the moment to ignite the fuse
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Whoa, oh, oh, whoa, oh, oh
We are pure dynamite
Let's seize the moment to ignite the fuse
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Whoa, oh, oh, whoa, oh, oh

Pure dynamite
Dynamite
(????)
Oh yeah

[Chorus]
Oh, seize the moment to ignite the fuse
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Whoa, oh, oh, whoa, oh, oh
We are pure dynamite
Let's seize the moment to ignite the fuse
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh

Thank you both for the help. It seems like we both got stuck at the same part Joeyy, haha. Though I think "make me feel real fine" is "make me feel revived". Definitely makes sense in this context, since he's feeling "half-alive" from work and needs his energy to be revived.

As for the missing word...man, I don't know. I would figure it would rhyme with "time", but it sounds more like "morning of fire" to me... which wouldn't make sense at all because being dark and cold in a morning "of fire" would be rather contradictory...unless that's what they were going for? I can't hear anything else there. Before I submit the lyrics with that, what are your thoughts?

I'll comment on Jess Keko's transcription in the next post. I actually tried transcribing the Beth Edges song myself, and we got quite different results, so I want to make that its own post.

Alright, so this is what I got for the Beth Edges song. Phrases in bold are what I got different from your transcription, Jess.

Dolled up in gold, you're a sight to behold
Slow dance in slow-mo
Whoa oh oh, whoa oh oh
Whoa oh oh, whoa oh oh
It's up to you, where to go, what to do
We'll see where we flow
Tonight

We are pure dynamite
Let's seize the moment 'til we light the fuse
Whoa oh oh, whoa oh oh
We are pure dynamite
Let's seize the moment 'til we light the fuse
Whoa oh oh, whoa oh oh

No right, no wrong
True or false, do's and don'ts
In case you don't know
Whoa oh oh, whoa oh oh
Whoa oh oh, whoa oh oh
No trouble won't trouble us anymore
You got to hold on
Tight

We are pure dynamite
Let's seize the moment 'til we light the fuse
Whoa oh oh, whoa oh oh
We are pure dynamite
Let's seize the moment 'til we light the fuse
Whoa oh oh, whoa oh oh

Are you dynamite?
Dynamite
[something is whispered here]
Oh yeah

I'll seize the moment 'til we light the fuse
Whoa oh oh, whoa oh oh
We are pure dynamite
Let's seize the moment 'til we light the fuse

-----------
So yeah, a few minor things are different. I was pretty confident in all of the lyrics except for the whispery section. I showed my transcription to the friend that introduced me to this song, and he thought the whispered line in the bridge was perhaps "our dance". I'm willing to go with it because I can't make much of anything else out. With that said, I did just want some more feedback on the lyrics just to be sure, so I took it here. I think I can go from this and a live version of the song to complete the transcription (and the line is definitely "ignite the fuse" per this live performance). Thanks very much!

* offtopic :
Also, I just wanted to add - I really do think it's "Are you dynamite?" in the bridge, not "pure dynamite". I don't hear a "p" sound there at all, and it would make sense considering the lyric "we are pure dynamite" in the chorus, so he then asks the listener if they are pure dynamite. Just a thought

I had a feeling it was "at five" since I was thinking of words that rhymed with "alive", but I had trouble hearing that. Nonetheless, it does make sense. I'm submitting this, but I still think "real fine" should be "revived", so that's the main thing I changed.

Thanks a lot for the help! Now all of i-Ten's lyrics are online. I'll bump this thread again once I need help.

Bumping this again - wow, it's been quite a while. Mostly because I haven't had too much time for transcribing lately. However, I'm trying to help a friend on another site with transcribing a song. All of it is on the lyrics sheet except for two lines. I can figure out one of them but not the other.

The song is "Little Bo's Peep Show" by Tim Moore, and the two lines not on the sheet are at 1:56:

The hyena's sounding more like a pony when he laughs
[...]

Normally I would have someone transcribe the whole song like I usually do, but I don't want to waste their time since everything else except these two lines are confirmed on the vinyl's lyric sheet. I could only make a few words out from the second line but I don't want to post my interpretation, as it may influence what other people hear it as.

I'm assuming the line contains the name of an animal, if that helps any, since the preceding two lines are "the lizard's wearing lipstick and she's dressing to provoke, and the anteater is popular with all the lady folk". The entire song seems to be centered around animals performing a show, actually.

I find it kind of strange that Moore arbitrarily left out these two lines from the lyrics sheet, they seem to be a core part of the song and not ad libbing. But I can't say I'm surprised since I've seen artists omit entire verses in the past. Anyways, thanks in advance to anyone who helps

Here is what I heard:

They got Linda Lovelicesin (Linda Lovelace?) and she's coaching a giraffe.

MCSMeister | 24-12-2015 04:59
Hmm, I'm not sure about that. I highly doubt Moore would reference Linda Lovelace, a porn star, in his lyrics, because his lyrics are usually quite tame. The most profane word I've heard him say in a song is "damn", so that's really not much.

I hear "They got ___ racin' as she's coaching a giraffe". I feel like it's an "r" sound, not an "l". Either it's a name or some obscure word I don't know. But I don't know much more than that. Thanks for trying, though.
