*Introductory theme tune*

Happy almost Christmas! (That's the closest we have to something related - Rudolph's red nose...a white, dead Rudolph.) Round #1 can be my Christmas present to our American players.

Rules of the quiz:
- One answer per person (per round)
- Always give the answer you think the fewest amount of people would know
- If two people give the same answer in a short space of time, the first person's answer will be accepted (but the second can answer again)
- When applicable, a player may pick the same subject as another contestant and provide a different answer if they believe the other to be incorrect
- If you play the first round, please check back in case you make it through to Round #2
- Resist cheating (i.e. searching online for answers)

And of course, respect your fellow contestants and have fun!

Round #1 will be posted shortly and will remain open until Monday (or, when applicable, until each answer is taken) to give everyone a chance of replying.

Goretski, please read the rules of the game next time. The round that you just gave ALL of the answers for was specifically for the finalists, B and Jeff, only.

Joey, new first round, I guess?

Also, C is the "yak" (which is wrong by the way) not a fox, D is an Emu (given that you already ruined the round, I'll throw that one out there). E is the fox.
Screwed up your answers a bit?

He screwed up big time. That's annoying.

What they said. Though yak is wrong - that's a gnu; another name for a wildebeest.

New round coming up.

Don't you dare ruin this round. It's called head to head for a reason. Not, "let's post all of the wrong answers and ruin the round for the two that are supposed to be playing."

It was annoying, but I'm sure he didn't do it deliberately. I'll PM him and tell him there in case he doesn't check this one again.

He was right about the kea being the most obscure at least, haha.

A KEA 3
B ELK 44
C GNU 26
D EMU 66
E FOX 99

Calm down, Jeff. He may not have known, but now he does. Hopefully there are no more interruptions.

I was confused by that one, Joey. I knew it was a wildebeest and didn't realize they had a different, three-letter name. Learned something new.

It's a bird in New Zealand. Type of parrot, apparently.

It's just annoying because he didn't read the rules.

Interesting. Maybe it wants a cracker?

Haha (Sarah), well I had to double-check myself and make sure there wasn't an American/British difference.

Yeah, i hate it when someone takes something I enjoy and ruins it. Could have been worse though, he could have done it consistently and on purpose just to be a dick or to serve some selfish (and honesy pretty stupid) need that he has.

I'll do another picture round, so I'll just get the images.

HEAD-TO-HEAD, PART 1 (...#2)

Computer's being frustratingly slow, sorry. Your new first question concerns...

MEN WHOSE SURNAMES ARE GIRLS' NAMES

I'm going to show you five pictures now of famous men whose surnames are typically thought of as girl's names. Give me the most obscure and you'll win the point.

A
B
C
D
E

Interesting, I didn't know they could be called gnus in English. But I would have guessed it since I didn't know another three letter word for them.

It doesn't have to mean anything other than that my Mum's a bit of an oddball. :p

They shouldn't be, but we can wait. You said you have a laptop now.

Glad I got home when I did. I do apologize for the wait.

I'll go with the most obvious, C, Babe Ruth.

Well, we'll see. In the order they were given, B said James Joyce for the second image. How far down will that take us if it's right?

And Jeff has said C is Babe Ruth. Has to be a pointless answer to beat B's score...is it?

Nope! A fairly good score in some rounds, but not good enough in this case. B took the best answer on the board, though, so there was nothing you could've done.
