Would a "youtube" tag be useful for on the site?

I see often ppl adding links to youtube. Why not embedding them directly into your comments?

Example :

yes13 (92.9 %)vote
no1 (7.1 %)vote
total votes: 14
1 to 25 of 48 comments

absolutely, if at all possible. Photos would be nice too.

That would be great!

Not so sure about the photos. We might end up having to add a new "inappropriate images" card.

Oh, yes, that would be neat. As long as it doesn't slow things down.

What do you mean? For adding videos to a song or for putting a video to the forum?

Second option. So no, I wouldn't.

Into song comments or albums comments? So not into forum posts?

So "no" again.

Well, embedding videos on the forum isn't a good idea. Only for songs. Putting youtube links all over the forum should slow computers down. I have enough problems with that, mostly when I want to listen to a song. I click "play", then the music starts while the video isn't on yet - 15 seconds later, I see the video.

So "no" YT tags for forum posts.

Stating it will slow down computers is jumping into conclusions without knowing the story. The youtube videos on LSI are not preloaded meaning that the video code is only loaded and executed only when you click on it. Until then you're seeing an image. Check the songs, I guess you didn't know you're only seeing a image The result it that if you don't click on the video's the pages load with the same speed as if they weren't there.

So just let me hear your concerns, not the conclusions. Then I'll take a look at them, there are always many solutions to work around problems.

Excellent Ray! Love seeing the expansion of the link tags into something more visual giving us a hint at the content so Yes....

And while I'm here... thanks so much for providing us with the Poll option (thinking of one to start myself).

* offtopic :
While we're thinking links here.. I assume it would take up too much space is why there is no "img" button that would similarly post a small thumbnail of the image the link connected us to right here on the site (same as the You Tube Image, a tiny one that does not do anything unless we click on it to see the full screen sized image).. Just like the smiley's you could post a limit on using them within a message to keep the Forum all smooth and clean running without someone posting many You Tubes (or images as I just inquired about) in a row with little or none words attached... just offtopic comment unless someone else responds to that.

YouTube tag implemented, happy youtube-tagging!

The mobile-optimized "image-preview" method as used at the songs is also used for YouTube videos added to comments. This means that the video is presented as an image which loads ultra fast. Only when you click on the video the full code is loaded and the video starts to play.

Looks like I'm a bit behind on the voting, but yes. A lot of videos are shared around the site. And this way I don't have to click on a link, taking me to another window, just to see what the video is. Half the time I don't watch them, I just click to see what it is. This saves me the trouble.

Same here. So this will be convenient. Good idea, Ray!
