I feel kind of bad winning again with another lame post...sorry about that.

---------------------------------------------------------

The following is a paid broadcast from Stanley...

*insert commercial jingle*

Please, people, let's not forget what the great HappyLion said when he first opened this thread back in '02...

Tired of "favorite..."s and "hate..."s?
Tired of religious wars?
Tired of disputes over words like "gay"?
Feeling random...?

Or are you just one of those people who don't make any sense anyway...?

THEN DROP BY THE RANDOMNESS, THE PLACE WHERE YOU CAN JUST GET THAT WEIRDNESS OFF YOUR MIND!

-----------------------R U L E S-------------------------

1. Posts in this thread (with this one as a possible exception...) may make no sense whatsoever!

2. Try to read all existing posts before posting a new one...

3. DO NOT USE MORE THAN 3 SMILEYS PER POST!

4. BE ORIGINAL!

5. Have fun for Christ's sake!

6. (Don't) Spam!

I don't know any lullabies and my singing voice is a bit too screechy to put someone to sleep.

That's good. It's possible that business schools do that here too, but I can't go back to school, at least not at this point. . I've maxed out on student loans. And I have a good education and good references (I hope). I'm sure I'll catch a break and get at least a decent and relevant job before long.

Biased referees are biased.

Congrats to my father for finally getting inducted into the hall of fame!

Good for you Lisa... you prepared yourself well... now just have to properly parlay and present yourself and you'll get the dream job/job you always dreamed of!

Check out libraries there.... I'm not familiar outside of USA, but see if they have job seeking help areas or libraries who specialize in that (they do here) and can help with resume writing and how to network and have even afternoon/evening job groups where people who are similar in experience or job searches get together to help one another out (not as good as having your own personal job coach.... but like you say you maxed out on student loans so you might not be able to afford professional help just yet)...

Sorry if I wrote too much meant it to be a short quip about checking out library...

Why do you always apologize for writing so much? Haha, no need to apologize,
Practice.

Apologizing to myself... I start out with typing just a few words... and it just keeps on going and going and going (you know the commercial)......

Yeah, I've been to job/career advisers and I'm registered with an association that helps people find internships (that has their office in the library, actually, but I don't know if they are really associated with the library or are just using the same space). And I've been referred to another as well. So I've got some help in that area.

Good for you Lisa..... Yes Libraries "rent out" sometimes for free for the public good it does the users of the library --who pay for this with their taxes----

So what you are describing is the norm.

Much more information Lisa.... thank you I appreciate that... I know you're on the right track that way....

Gary's mom bought me this game for an early Christmas present. I think I mentioned it a couple weeks ago. It's pretty fantastic.

Interesting.... is that to say he (the boy who escaped and grew up) invented the game? Or is he just a spokesperson for the game? Not clear in video.

I honestly didn't watch the video but the game is fictional so I imagine whatever kid is in the video is just an actor.

lol just be careful! I USED to post videos or links without looking at them first and that could be troublesome!!! The kid grew up to an adult in a modern Western City.... I don't play these immersive games.. just never had time...

Why would you post a video without having previously watched it?

Washed my pillows today and I thought they were dry. I was wrong

Does rapgenius ever crash anyone else's internet? I hate that site. But they do have lyrics up before anyone else. They could let the annotation feature go and I'm sure it would run eons faster.

Game trailers are often weird, Practice. Either using real people or awesome animated material and a line that says, "Not actual gameplay footage", which I've always been baffled by. I guess it's just to give you the general idea of what the game is like.

re: rapgenius: I don't remember it crashing for me before.

I know Practice has been giving some job hunting advice. I thought I'd share some advice from my experience:

Turns out I don't have any. I've fallen ass-backwwards into every decent gig I've ever had, and some of the shitty ones too. I only have good references from previous employers because it's just in my nature to bust my ass and take pride in whatever it is I do. I've never had experience when I started a job, and my education is worth about as much as the paper my degree is printed on. Nobody has ever looked at my resume and said "Hot damn, he has an Associates in basically nothing, hire him." And all but one of the decent jobs I've had, I knew someone involved or someone in my immediate family knew somebody who told me to apply.

I know that every time I've gotten anywhere in life work-wise it's been like 40% being in the right place at the right time, 40% blind luck, 15% knowing the right people, and 5% other. I know that any advice I could ever give is only going to apply to 1 in 10 or so people, same with the advice Practice gives. There are no clear-cut ways to do it, and everyone and every situation is different.

TL; DR: You can follow anyone and everyone's job-getting advice and come up empty handed every time, you can follow none of it and win all the time, or literally any combination of advice-result in between. Life is stupid like that.

Very well put, though you have always come across as a hard worker and I think you'd be doing yourself a disservice by only putting that in "5% other".

Keeping a job, yeah, the ass busting is like 40%, but as far as getting a job none of that really matters. A perspective employer has no way of knowing that, and anyone will tell you that they're a hard worker when they're interviewing for a job. The other 5% is more or less confidence and ability to interview well etc.

Maybe, but I would think those good references that came as a result of the ass busting have helped you out too.

Apparently it's illegal here to give a bad reference. It's that the same over there?
