What Do You Think Of The New Like System

Just because it will get abused just like the + and - system.

Have seen it but haven't used it yet.

I don't love it, but I don't mind it. It's nice sometimes to be able to show appreciation for a post. I just hope it doesn't turn people into "likers" instead of posters, diminishing conversation.

It's nice to have the 'Likes' back. As Lisa said, I hope it doesn't discourage people from posting. I don't believe it will be "abused", though, because the trolls of the internet are the ones who abuse such features, and trolls, true to their name, are not nice enough to want to "abuse" a positive feature.

Well I wouldn't say I "love" it, but it's nice being able to show appreciation for an amusing post.
It was also the disking or "minusing" on the old plus/minus feature that got abused really, so this should be alright.

I want solid reasons you two.

Sometimes I don't want to interrupt a thread, but giggle or enjoy a comment. This is an unobtrusive way to acknowledge that.

Why do I love the new Liking feature of LSI?

There are many times when I find some posts funny or nice, but I don't know how to express that. Now, whenever I'd feel so, I can't post a comment saying- 'LOL' or 'I like your post'. I don't have anything else to say or contribute to the discussion and I'd feel that I'm interrupting a conversation with silly comments. In such situations, Like option is definitely useful.

About abusing this option, I hope that we're not gonna use it like some people do on Facebook- 'Ooh, a post by one of my friends on FB. I should like it because it's one of the golden rules of FB friendship.'

i like it. it's like having the +/- feature again but without the downsides

I'm with Joeyy and Saina on this one, loving the cheese. The like system is something new to me, I only joined in 2008. Seems alright to me.

I like how we're all choosing "no comment" to comment about it.

I like it, it's useful for exactly what Saina described. But love is too strong a word for it.

Not sure if I love it, but overall it's a cool feature which I'll use occasionally.

If you go to your profile and click on "recent activity", the number of likes shows up as a long string of numbers for me. Anyone else getting this?

I like it. But like is closer to love than no comment.

Like that? I don't think I've given quite that many just yet.

So it looks like member ID# + today's date and then some other junk.

LSI must have been hugely popular in 2004 because a ton of members joined that year. More than any year since. According to my poor math. Random fact? Ok.

Well we both joined in '04, it was clearly the best year for new members.

Has anyone told Ray about that though, he can probably fix it pretty easily.

I think those numbers are something else. Back when I could see my member number, I'm pretty sure it was in the hundred thousands, not millions. But I could be wrong.

The weird thing about the format (36516632014-08-0614) is the second 14 at the end. 08-06-2014 makes sense but why add another 14 to it?

Never mind, the second 14 is the current hour on LSI.
