The Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan is awesome.
the books are:
1. the eye of the world
2. the great hunt
3. the dragon reborn
4. the shadow rising
5. the fires of heaven
6. lord of chaos
7. a crown of swords
8. the path of daggers
9. winter's heart
10. crossroads of twillight

or, if you don't want to get in to a big huge series, i'd recommend The Giver, by Lois Lowry, or Tuck Everlasting, and i don't know the author.

speaking of The Giver...i had to read it for school. i didnt like having to do all those worksheets and projects on it so that made it kinda bad but if i would have read it on my own i probably could have enjoyed it more

Hmmm, I think the best books I`ve read is: "fiskerjenten" by B.Bjørnson & "tankene mine får du aldri" av Sverre Asmervik.
