| has anyone seen Gunther Von Hagens "bodyarts"? If so, what did you think of it? Personally, i think it shouldn't be called art anymore.. i mean a man standing with his own skin in his hands? Nice picture of arts to society.
what do you guys think?

| I saw that when it was at The Hayward in London.... I agree its a bit sick, but it is still art. Art is about exploring new concepts and ideas. Personally my artwork is all drawing and painting pretty much true-to-life, coz I think thats where my talents lie and also thats the kind of stuff I like, but I do accept other people ideas of art even if I don't like them. (And I definately didn'tl like Bodyworks!!!)
The only person who I think doesn't deserve to be called an artist is Tracy Emin.... what is that woman on!!!!!

| As you'll probably know, I'm a student of the history of art, but in my opinion, this can in a way be seen as art, indeed as ally said, seeking new forms. I refer now to Duchamps, who bought an object in a store, put it in a museum and so "created" a piece of art, just as a statment: art is what we call art.
I didn't see, it was in belgium though, but I don't think I'd liked it, perhaps to see how our human body works, but not as an art exhibition. The same as I don't like looking at abstract art. But that's my personal opinion of course! | 0 @ 04-11-2002 18:15 TheHappyLion | 584 posts
| I think I would call that art yes. Not necessarily my taste, but still art.
Here's another question:
Well, there was this artist in Denmark who had a piece of art consisting of ten blenders with a goldfish in each. LIVE goldfish swimming around, that is! Now, these blenders were actually powered up, and people were allowed to press the button, and the fish would get liquidized...
Is that art?
Hugs,

| That isn't art. Thats just disgusting. Humans on a sick power trip because most of us apparently think we have the right to take animals lives.
Sorry.... mad raving vegetarian and animal rights campaigner here. Just my opinion (but I think avalid one!) Carry on talking bout art now...
