Simply said.

I checked out CNET.com but a lot of the programs have bad stories behind them or not enough reviews. The good stuff seems to cost money but I know good things also come free. I've downloaded some bad stuff in my comp. Dunno how, where, or what but pop up ads come up every time I connect to the net and it's making me upset.

Thanks for your help.

I've read a lot on Spybot S&D and Adaware and it seems both tend to remve vital OS files and can't be removed or don't do the job.

I'm so lost.

And so freaking cluttered with pop up ads. Grr.

download firebird from mozilla.org, it's a browser. from all i've used (IE, netscape, mozilla, opera) it's by far the fastest except for mozilla, which is really the same program except with a few extra elements like email POP interfacing...anyway, yeah firebird blocks popups and has a google toolbar, among other things

I use AKiller as my pop up stopper. I find its really good. ANd it stops them by the page title so it doesn't stop new windows from appearing when you click stuff to open them(unless the titles match a blocked one).

As far as popup blockers go, Netscape 7.1 is the ultimate in blocking them. The only popups that get through are the ones from sites that you specify as being allowed to show you popups
