Standing at the edge of the cliff
This is do or die
Softly speaking from the heart
Tears waiting to escape each eye

Wondering if you even noticed
Looking for a sign
Reminding myself not to give up
Keeping regret in mind

Searching for an answer
Any sense of truth
Fighting for the future
Forgetting about my youth

But I can see that smile
Turned into a frown
And as quickly as I approached
I’m soon falling down

And you, afraid to hold on
Silently let me go
Never bothering to wonder
How much you’ll never know

And outside of my skin I’m watching
As I quietly plummet to the sea
Watching you in all your fault
Walk away from me

Now time has done me nothing
But made my yearning strong
Fighting back the inevitable
For you, even now, I long

I’ve seen you approach a few times
While I linger on the ocean floor
And I’ve gradually learned to realize
Defiantly, you’ve come to adore

15,407 posts	my english teacher made us write in dactyllic hexameter, so now i always look for meter if someone rhymes yes i know it's overly critical but that's my standard now...which is why i never rhyme when i write poems...meter is HARD
