| ooooh....don't get me started. Reading is my favorite thing, second only to sleeping, eating, writing, and posting on here.
I suggest:
The Sabriel series by Garth Nix
Dead in Dixie (good if you like vampire stories)
Pirates by Celia Rees
Witch Child and Sorceress, also by ^^
White Oleander
The Diary of Anne Frank
Leaves of Grass (Anais Nin, I think...)
Bones by.....lemme go check...Jan Burke
Anything by Stephen King, particularly 'The Shining' and 'Carrie'
Anything by Anne McCaffrey, esp. the Pern series.

| On the Road (or anything else for that matter) by Jack Kerouac--this book basically started the Beat movement, which I became quite interested in earlier this year. Also read Howl by Allen Ginsberg and Naked Lunch by William S. Burroughs, those the latter two of those books, I am warning you, are very mature.
The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath
Prozac Nation by Elizabeth Wurtzel
A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess (VERY disturbing but worth reading if you are mature)
American Night by Jim Morrison (it's a book of his poems... there is another book, too, but this is the only one I have and it is very good)
Peter Pan by J.M. Barrie --now that the movie is out, there is even more reason to read the book!
Waiting for Godot by Samuel Beckett--this is a play, but very funny
Any of Louise Rennison's books about Georgia Nicholson (Angus, Thongs, and Full Frontal Snogging, On the Bright Side I'm Now the Girlfriend of a Sex God, Knocked out by My Nunga Nungas, and Dancing in my Nuddy Pants--despite the titles these are all PG-13 at the worst)
Any of Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles (Interview with the Vampire, The Vampire Lestat, and Queen of the Damned are the first three in the series, and that's as far as I've gotten)
Walden by Henry David Thoreau
Slaughterhouse Five by Kurt Vonnegut
Rotten by John Lydon-- anyone interested in real punk rock should read this book, and anyone not interested should read it anyway because it is very entertaining. although it is probably also not for younger readers...
I will look at my list of books I read this year (yes, I keep a list; I'm anal about it) and see if I can think of any others. I read a LOT, so I know I am leaving something out... | 0 @ 27-12-2003 02:32 Puddle_of_sugar | 3,690 posts

I forget who it's by, but it's pretty popular, and definitely a good book.
There's another one I'm thinking of, too, but I can't think of the name... | 0 @ 27-12-2003 21:30 Catatonic | 7,164 posts
