here is a massive list of what people consider to be punk bands. you may not agree but everyone has different opinions, and what you may see as not punk...others may seee as punk-obviously not all punk bands are going to be on here yet!this is a list of bands for people to refer to if they need bands. if I miss some...then add them and ill renew the list!
This has taken me ages! I have music off most of these bands-nearly all of them-so if u wanna know what theyre like or want to hear there music (on msn)then just ask

| i would add to the list

their music is sort of pop-punk-rock. | 0 @ 22-03-2007 08:47 poisonbrain | 511 posts
| Oh wow. This thread just makes me sad, because here we have proof that anyone can call anything punk these days and get away with it. Modest Mouse? Bright Eyes? What the hell? Don't even get me started on the whole "pop-punk" thing. How one can even get the idea to combine the two genres is completely beyond me. | 0 @ 01-04-2007 03:13 a7x_love | 105 posts
| this is most definitely the most controversial thread i've seen.
genres are fun and all, but people arguing endlessly over whats what makes me sad. just shut up and listen, people. | 0 @ 21-04-2007 11:33 stuffines | 578 posts
| Well I would say that punk have many subgenres. the early punk, the "real" punk is Ramones, Sex Pistol, The Clash and that stuf. The Punk came up in the middle of the 70s with Ramones. They were inspired of bands like Velvet Underground, The Stooges and New York Dolls. There's a lot of music that can be conected to punk, we have postpunk, punkrock, skatepunk, Hardcore... It's meaninglss to discuss if Greenday is punk or not, it's punk for their fans. Their fans are young and that is what they define as punk. Well I think Greenday is a kind of punk, punkrock. The 90s punk. Every generation needs punks. COrrect me if I'm wrong but this is what I think. rock on. | 0 @ 04-07-2007 14:40 Theredgreen | 100 posts
| can't think of anywhere else to put Green Day than punk... It's definetly not pop Pop is Britney Spears and the like(puke) and it ain't plane rock either, it's too simple for that and anyone trying to call their music grunge really doesn't know much about music. And for gods sake, stop whining about them being sellouts, the label doesn't define what kind of music it is. | 0 @ 04-07-2007 14:45 Lucifer_666 | 104 posts
| Green Day is pop-punk.

| Oh, and by the way, punk is dead.
not yet, but its in the process of being killed by MTV and HotTopic | 0 @ 05-01-2008 05:56 isdrowning | 2 posts
| Meh.. I would never in a million years consider Bright Eyes. Some of the other ones you can twist and bend, but seriously?
Aside, this list is about a third pop-punk, but it's all in the listener's ear really. | 0 @ 01-02-2008 20:08 flickfan82x | 9 posts
