| Hello, can anyone suggest me some games to play on Christmas eve? They cannot be drinking games or sexual games. It's a party with parents, relatives and family friends, something innocent like charades would be nice. All the games that we play are not interesting anymore, so I'm wondering maybe you play smth cool in your countries with your parents and relatives on parties like that. Please, please, any suggestion, any game or activity would be nice!!!!! Thank you. |

| i know a game! Its called Big Bhudda! but dammit its too hard to explain! | 0 @ 22-12-2003 12:00 Groovejet | 5,848 posts
| please try! I'd really appreciate. If it's fairly easy, not too 'sporty' and kinda 'neutral', you know what I mean?
Please try to explain it!! | 0 @ 22-12-2003 12:41 chawl87 | 212 posts
| ok, i'll try!
the aim to become Big Bhudda
the setup every one grabs a chair and sits in a circle. Choose one lucky person to start off as 'Big Bhudda' Every one else is given a number. It doesn't matter if you start from the left or right from Big Bhudda, but it must go round in numerical order (1,2,3,4,5...)
the beat You can go however fast/slow you like. Its just a simple rhythm, clap down with both hands on your lap, then clap your hands together, then on your lap, then hands together... over and over again...it never ends
the chant hehe i love this part! "Big Bhudda, Big Bhudda, Big Bhudda. Big Bhudda, oh yeeah!" the chant doesn't have to be said if u feel too silly haha. it has no real purpose other than to sound...cool?
And we start! Big Bhudda starts the game by leading everyone into the beat at their own pace. Once every ones got into the rhythm, they say the chant (above) to the beat, then as soon as they finish, they will say "Big Bhudda" when their hands hit their lap, then some one elses number (any number) when they clap. Example: Big Bhudda (hands on lap), Number 3 (at the same time as they clap. Then the person who is number 3 would immediatly say "Number 3 (when they clap onto their laps) and then when they clap their hands together they would say another persons number. Then that person will carry on as well! So basically, you say your own number on the first beat, then some one elses on your second.
but! you have to keep the beat/rhythm going, you can't pause or stop and if you do... the person who mucks up has to go to the end of the line and become the last number. So if you had ten people playing, and Number Five mucked up, they would take Number Ten's seat. Then every one else would move up a seat to fill the gaps, so they would get a new lower number, and therefore they will become that much closer to becoming Big Bhudda. Number Six would become the new number 5, and number 7 would become the new number 6 and so on. *note* if Number Five got out, numbes 4-1 would not be afffected by the moving seats. When some one gets out, and after every one has moved into their new seat, the beat begins again and Big Bhudda will start the game.
so how to become big bhudda? Obvoiusly this being a game of concentration, people who aren't ready/too slow/say a number that doesn't exist/mumble are going to get out, and have to go to the end of the line. So people will be constantly moving and changing numbers. To become Big Bhudda, you will have to try to be Number One when some one gets Big Bhudda out so that you can move into their seat. To get Big Bhudda out is just like any one else, if some one calls out big bhudda and the person who is Bug Bhudda miss the beat or whatever, they get out and they will have to become the last number. Then Number One will move into Big Bhudda's seat and then they will be the new Big Bhudda.
Whew! I think i've covered everything and managed to confuse every one in the forum, espeically myself! But it is a lot of fun!
But if this fails, why not just play Human Naughts and Crosses? That's cool too! But thats a whole other story....

| Thanks so much, chawl!!!!!!!! I think I understood and I think I know this game - just without the Bhuda thing - we played smth similar at least at school. i had forgotten, it's a nice idea!
Human naughts and crosses?! Go on...... | 0 @ 22-12-2003 13:40 salaam | 15,547 posts
| I know one game but there's gotta be more than 5 persons in it..... it's called silmäniskumurhaaja.... like eyewink killer.... but I can't remember how it goes.... | 0 @ 22-12-2003 13:43 stupot | 14,962 posts
| the one where u get a peice of paper and have to pass it around but only by sucking it with your mouth. like, placin it against ure mouth and suckin so it stays there and givin it to the next person by the same method. whoever drops it is out of the game.
and theres the one with the ball under the chin, same concept. cant use your hands, have to pass it around by using your chins, simple.
and theres one we always seem to play where u get a cereal box and have to bend down and pick it up with your mouth. after everyones had a go, u cut a section off the top and keep going. you cant touch the floor with your hands or knees and if you cant do it, then youre out. this carries on until you get down to the very bottom of the box, which, im proud to say, i once managed to pick up. that was a long time ago, and i have put on weight since then so i doubt il b able to do it again. | 0 @ 22-12-2003 13:46 chawl87 | 212 posts
| yea, there are like a million and one versions of that game! we used to play it at school too, and its really cute how people get so angry and competitive over a stupid game haha!
Hmmmm... for human naughts and crosses you need quite a big space. You get nine chairs and set them up in rows of three, so you have a grid just as if you were playing it on paper. Then you divide every one into two even teams and number every one off. every one should have a 'partner'- so there will be two number ones, two number twos and so on, one from team A and one from team B. Anyway, the leftover person who couldnt make it into the team (and you know there's always one of them haha) gets to be the scorekeeper, and calls out 3 random numbers at a time. If your number is called, that means you have been chosen along with two other people in you team to run into the middle and try to occupy a row within the grid digaonally, horizontally or vetically. So bascially you would have two teams of 3 in the grid at the same time tyring to all sit in the same row, all running round and changing seats and trying to block the other teamlike crazy until finally the first team to have all 3 people sitting down in a row gets the point!
It could get dangerous if you have angry, competitive uncles who yell but still fun | 0 @ 22-12-2003 13:49 Groovejet | 5,848 posts
| Stupot! I know that cereal box game! We play it here, too!! You could pick up the bottom of the box?? Wow, I'm pretty bad at this game. But this wont work with the older people, although.. maybe I could try.
And thanks for the sucking games, but I don't think they'll be quite appropriate.
We also thought about organizing "who wants to be a millionaire" type of game, then also charades. Smth like that, kinda passive, would be best.

| Ooh and the Flour game!! lol im like remembering all these cool games from my child hood! You get a bowl of flour and tip it upside onto a plate so you have like a mountain on flour. Then you place a lolly on top of the flour mountain, and everyone takes a turn at slicing the moutain with a knife, and whoever makes the moutain collapse and the lolly fall has to retreive the lolly from the flour using only their mouth! | 0 @ 22-12-2003 13:51 Groovejet | 5,848 posts
| haha, thanks for human naughts and crosses! I didn't know this one. (I thought those are 2 separate games, lol). Yeah, this one is pretty good!! | 0 @ 22-12-2003 14:02 Groovejet | 5,848 posts
| How can you slice the flour mountain with a knife? Or do you just kind of move a little bit of flour away with aknife? Oh yeah these kindof games are nice, too
and what exacly is a lolly? Lika a chupa-chups? | 0 @ 22-12-2003 14:09 chawl87 | 212 posts
| what is a lolly? lol yea, like chupa chups... but with out the stick? like umm... wats another word for it... candy?
and yea, you just kinda push away the flour a lil with the knife. I just used the word 'slice' because it sounds dangerous | 0 @ 22-12-2003 14:15 Groovejet | 5,848 posts
| lol..
sorry, I've just never heard people call candy a 'lolly'. I just know the song 'lolly pop', haha | 0 @ 22-12-2003 14:18 chawl87 | 212 posts
| wow! thats kinda cute! where bouts are you from? i live in new zealand, and here we don't use the word candy very much, most people say lolly haha | 0 @ 22-12-2003 14:29 Groovejet | 5,848 posts

I remember playing a game like that in Primary School. Only it was with animals.
You went around in a circle, and somebody was the omeba.
Anyway, there wasnt a chant, but the omeba had to make its sound (usually it was this gargling kinda sound), and then the sound of another animal that was in the circle. So, say the omeba made its sound and then a lion's, then the lion would have to make the lions sound and another sound, etcetc
BUT - You couldnt stumble. You had to think of another persons sound straightaway, and it couldnt be the sound of the person that just picked them...
Does that make sense? | 0 @ 22-12-2003 17:08 Dekar | 36,121 posts
