| I'm turkish and i hate those men you were talking about too. It's even hard for me to walk sometimes on a street without some man saying something to me (mostly really irritating words they use).
But i also have to say that turkey should not be thought as a country where men are creepy and women wearing turban. Of course there are people like that especially in the east of turkey.
Anyway.. i live in istanbul and i'm attending to an english course for 4 years now. All my teachers there are english and one of them told me something about herself.
She said she wasn't sure what to put in her luggage before coming to turkey. She said that she always heard people saying bad things about the country. So she put all her trousers instead of her skirts and chose to wear dark colors. And when she came to istanbul and spent a couple of weeks in Turkey she was surprised to find out people in turkey were not like what people in england told at all. And she said "i was more surprised to find out actually girls were wearing really short skirts i wouldn't imagine to wear in england."
That's what she told me and as a girl living in turkey i find it really sad for people thinking bad about turkey. Turkey is not so different than any other western country. * offtopic : at least west part of turkey is not so different
And a last note; turkish doesn't sound like arabic. Arabic is a beautiful language i think, and much more musical but turkish, as an american friend told me sounds more like japanese * offtopic : though i don't think that's true also

| im also Turkish.I also don't like that most people in Europe think bad things about us.tiranss seems like a racist.Yeah, that is true that the Kurds do many of the bad things here(i mean burglary, murder, rape)but not all of them are bad people.i also have good friends among Kurds and they also dont like that kind of Kurds.
Turkish is a very nice language although foreign friends say that it is a rude one.It has a unique and a hard grammar and it includes many foreign words(mostly Arabic,Persian,French and English) | 0 @ 05-09-2006 19:05 TurkishDelightt | 437 posts
