10,851 posts	haha that's the perfect example daniel.. in my case i've had the student visa for over 2 years and now i want to switch to a work one. i've got all documents but one: see, they ask you to have a social security number, but the only way to have one is if you already have a work visa. talk about dog chasing its tail.

514 posts	well over here if you're on a student visa and work on campus, you automatically get your SSN. hopefully you're allowed to work on-campus. My friend in IN got his ssn within 5 weeks of starting work, he quit his job after that :p if I got off my ass and sold my old books I'd easily get $200. easily. sometimes I think getting my own PC was quite the turning point towards doom

10,851 posts	we don't really have what americans call 'campus' here.. internships are allowed for me, but they can't have more hours than the classes. considering i'm a masters student who has classes 3x a week at night.. i don't even think a part time job would fulfill the requirements. anyway. this blows but hopefully it'll be sorted out by the end of the month.
