Have heard this tune for years and years on several programs but never found out what song it was. can you help, think it was part of a song in the late 80's early 90's

Your link doesn't work anymore (the i-Player shows lapse after a while), but there are two possibilities from what I gather. The old BBC F1 theme, which was "The Chain" by Fleetwood Mac, released ca. 1976. The alternative, having looked up the F1 2009 Intro, is "My Favourite Game" by The Cardigans, from an album called "Gran Turismo", funnily enough! It got to #14 in the UK in 1998.
