Hi. For a Uni project I have to build a small translation program which shows problems with different words which are spelt the same as well as different word order in sentances.

I was hoping someone could translate the following words into German as i can't remeber much and have trouble with past tense.

The Children ----
Threw ----
Stones ----
At ----
The Bank (as in a Financial Building)----
The Bank (as in the edge of a river)----
Bank (as in turning like in a plane)----

Also if possible could you also say what the word order in this sentance would be like in German as i think it is different to how it is said in English.

Thanks

well, you should see the people round here, i don't think they're much prettier in general than the people in your country although i can't really tell, never been over there ...

but, as this has been a topic here, i don't think i would study german if it wasn't my mother tongue. it's just not that beautiful - surely, there are some (austrian ) dialects which are quite nice and there are also beautiful poems or books ... but in general i prefer other languages

and, well, i think it's hard, like, compared to english or french, where you don't have to learn any cases at all (or, almost none) - i'm studying latin (didn't have the choice - otherwise, i wouldn't be doin that!!) and i'm getting crazy over all those cases and grammar rules ...
- but, still, it's surely not as hard as hungarian or finnish - or chinese or arabic (where you'd have to learn a whole new kind of writing) ...

yes, for those who don't know - german isn't only spoken in germany ... but also in austria and (parts of) switzerland ... and by minorities in belgium but well that's not a lot of people ...
still, if you don't like germany, doesn't mean you're going to dislike austria too

My guess would be "laughing fish"

Basis: "lachen" meaning to laugh and "Fisch" meaning fish

I had to choose between German and Spanish. Maybe German is more useful today in the world, but I've chosen Spanish because I simply love it!
