| i heard its coming close its already broken records
i do agree though it will be hard to beat because of the fact they say

| Well i haven't seen either, but i dont think it will. Close perhaps, but i dont think any film will be as internationly popular as the titantic was. | 07-08-2008 01:14 Cheater138 |

| Titanic made 600 million in the US, Dark Knights at 400 million right now. So if it stays popular it could beat that.
But, Titanic made over 2.5 billion worldwide while it was in theaters. Right now Dark Knight is at 600 million worldwide, I doubt it'll beat that record. | 07-08-2008 01:16 TheAnnoyance |

| Won't happen All the Batman Fanboys in the world can't topple idiot air headed women who saw Titanic and decided a 3 hour love story woven into one of history's greatest tragedies was great for multiple repeated viewings
That being said The Dark Knight was one of the Finest films i have ever said, it was perfect film making, excellent cast, performances, scenery, music and story
it was seriously amazing, it will probably beat titanics U.S box office take, but its lack of breasts and love story for women with disposable income and teen lonliness well prevent it from overtaking world Box office
but seriously TDK was amazing i judge all movies now based on how they stack up to The Dark Knight, go see it right now | 09-08-2008 02:12 zjenn4 |

| I really enjoyed the Dark Knight but I can't say that it was the most amazing thing I've ever seen. There were a lot of good things in it I think, but for me, it wasn't my #1 is all. | 09-08-2008 03:30 Crazyperson |

| Well, I've seen The Dark Knight, and i didn't think it deserves to beat Titanic.
The Dark Knight was really that good to me, like i don't understand why it should be the movie of the year. The movie didn't wow me.
So I don't think it will beat Titanic. Well i hope not... | 09-08-2008 05:29 fishmunky |

| yeah i just got back from the dark knight again
seriously amazing movie, Ledger is just as terrifying the second time around
TDK is the movie of the year for me thus far, nothing i have seen so far this year even comes close
great storytelling, great acting, and amazing considering it was essentially pg-13, no blood, no cursing, no nudity, just a few frightening scenes, and you never really see blood
essentially everything is left to the imagination, and its just spectacular
but great performances, an amazing storyline and the last brilliant performance of Heath Ledger can't compete with the second worst movie about a true historical disaster ever
*shrugs* but i guess kate winslett was pretty awesome naked | 10-08-2008 04:11 Advseeker1 |

| just about any movie > titanic
and still, titanic holds quite a few records. guess it's not about the plot being awesome, having a great director or anything. ant hit the nail right on the head, it's about appealing to the women with lotsa free time and teen girls who fall in love with leonardo dicaprio | 16-08-2008 04:38 xballaholicx |

Surely not, soo many crappy films out there.

Woah, haha, didn't James Cameron direct Titanic? I think he has films like Terminator and Aliens under his belt. I take your geek rights off you if you deny those classics, Mrs.
Titanic is one of my favourite movies that isn't a horror and you know that can't be because I want Leonardo DiCaprio to stand behind me so I can be all "We're flying!"
I'm not bright but I wouldn't say I'm an "idiot air headed" woman either, so I don't think that's fair to say. My idea of a good film tends to be some thrills, at least a little gore, good special effects and I favour horrors - love stories are definitely not my thing, so I give credit to Titanic for having that hold on me. Although the special effects were great for then too.
Nor is it Kate Winslet appearing naked that makes the movie so good for me. Never had an attraction to her (or her body).
I think it's a beautiful film. I love how the poor boy (poor as in class-wise) charms this rich, supposedly snobby lady into falling for him and offers her a taste of the world he comes from, changing the way she lives her life forever, in such limited time before they're torn apart, and instead of taking the easy road, she would have given up everything and lived that life with him. And once he dies she doesn't go back; she turns away from the safety she could have and chooses the way in which she'd have freedom instead; showing great courage after losing the man she fell in love with and not knowing what that future holds.
I also like the brief stories of others in the film. The captain staying on his ship; the men with their instruments who keep doing what they love whilst trying to provide calm to other passengers until the end; the priest; how the staff on board deal with the situation; the poor folk trying to get out from the lower decks; the old couple in bed holding each other and the woman reading to her children when the sink ships.
I look forward to seeing The Dark Knight when I do but I think there's too much hype and won't be going to the cinema for it. I doubt it'll beat the 2.5 billion worldwide but you never know, over time maybe. | 20-08-2008 20:57 Cheater138 |

| it's been bumped from number 1 and it hasn't broken 500 million in the US yet. Fewer people are going to see it now so I highly doubt it'll beat Titanics records. | 05-12-2008 01:23 chuckmusic | 11 posts

| no it hasn't actually.. has still only grossed about half of what Titanic did, and it's about 70 million behind in ticket sales.
But apparently it's going to be re-released in IMAX in January.. if they count those sales toward the regular movies sales it'll probably go way over Titanic in the box office. |
