thought this could be interesting for alll us english speakers here - this is how it works:

1. go to the speech accent archive
2. search for accents recorded by people in your area.
3. listen to them.
4. pick the one that's closest to your accent and post a link to it.
5. we'll listen and make fun of it.

Had to use the Atlas. Out of the five English ones, this: http://accent.gmu.edu/searchsaa.php?function=detail&speakerid=68

But I still don't (think I) sound like that.

what does my accent sound like? im really curious about that. i try hard not to sound french, but i know i cant pass for a non-french person for some reason. that sucks, years of repeating movie and song quotes over and over again and i still sound foreign to a native english speaker

and the text is the one from the link Bruna gave :
"Please call Stella. Ask her to bring these things with her from the store: Six spoons of fresh snow peas, five thick slabs of blue cheese, and maybe a snack for her brother Bob. We also need a small plastic snake and a big toy frog for the kids. She can scoop these things into three red bags, and we will go meet her Wednesday at the train station."

You sound a little French mixed with like, "posh" English to me (but not the bad kind of posh - I doubt anyone knows what I'm talking about here). It's cool .

I was just being a dope, it was trying to open with a music player that's broken on my computer and I couldn't figure out how to change it but I got it, thanks.

And James, you sound more, er, manly than I expected. Deeper voice than I thought.

There are many British/English accents, some of which are baaad. But not the way either of yours sound. I hate the accent of my town, luckily for me mine isn't too heavy. I'll upload if I can, maybe tomorrow.

lol all the french girls who are single and lonely should move to england, apparently they would just have to say a few french words to get male attention.

Nooo, the dislike between the English and French still lives on in many people's hearts here. I doubt they'd be very welcome unfortunately.

How neat! Carole sounds exactly how I pictured her sounding, and James sounds about 90% how I imagined him sounding (I envisioned James with a slightly stronger accent- but I'm impressed with how close I thought you'd both sound!)

What a funny text to have someone recite. But I suppose it's to produce the proper speech patterns to best hear accent differentiations I'd guess?
