27,345 posts	* offtopic : i made a new thread cuz we totally hijacked julisa's thread about postcards "Something i saw on youtube made me think that we lsi pple should write a big community postcard. like, someone writes a few words on a postcard, then they send it to a person from lsi they have the address of, then the person writes something on the postcard, then sends it to someone else and so on.. and in the end the card comes back to me (of course), i scan it and everyone can see the wonderful card that went all around the world, with everyones lil handwritten note on it. i like that idea" other forummers liked that idea too apparently, namely : bruna (indiechick) daniel (Dagor) james (TheAnnoyance) jeremy (JDolla) julisa (Juliet86) kaitlin (Deadly_Rose) karla (ice_white_tiger) lina (Barakine) maiken (Maycen) nanki (nanki_c) ^^ all expressed that they want in (if im not mistaken). other pple talked about it (like tim, aka PunkRckr8...) but im not sure they want in. i read all your suggestions and they're all great, i just think we need more pple to join in.. like, sierra, tara, phil, anthony, sarah, heather,... PM me, i'll give u someone's address to send it to. situation 2 : u received it and u have someone to send it too : please make sure the person is aware what this card thing is. either cuz they posted here, or cuz uve talked to them about it. situation 3 : u havent received the card, but u might get it soon cuz u're definitely on the list. just be patient. situation 4 : u havent received the card, and u know u wont ever get it. u suck, dont worry, it happens. situation 5 : u look fabulous today. no really. hot and sexy all over. situation 6 : u received the card, but your dog ate it. u suck, big time. we all hate u and your dog too. all in all : have fun =)

20,723 posts	Ok, I asked.. Not my mother, but my brother, who ALSO works at the post office. And I can pay extra, and be able to trace it, and the person who receives it has to sign or something. It only costs.. get this.. 8 times as much!

10,470 posts	It's going through check point probably. Sorry, I sent it registered so it takes longer. But it should be arriving at its destination this week!

20,723 posts	It is indeed insane! 9 NOK if you just send it, and 74 if you send it registered. The regular 9 plus 65 to register it.

10,470 posts	I know what you mean Maiken! I sent it registered and I paid nearly $15 to do so, and although it is basically guaranteed, it takes almost 5x as long to get there! I would recommend international or global priority mail. Then it's supposed to get there in like 3-5 days! And for me, it would have only cost like $6-$8 instead of $15!

34,776 posts	I think I put a stamp of 1 Euro on it .. if at all (ca. 1.5$). Perhaps a bit more, because of the extra .. but not that much more.

10,470 posts	yeah I realize that global priority would have been best now. Perhaps if the postal worker had properly informed me of all involved, and the time involved in registering my envelope before I pasted their weird sticky brown tape all over it, I would have chosen a different option.

21,956 posts	Hmmm... well, as far as I recall... a plain stamp (for foreign countries) costs less than $1. Sending a registered letter, when the recipient needs to sign some paper saying that they've got it, costs approximately twice the price. At least to the UK, it might vary depending on the distance. Oddly enough, I don't think it does when you just buy a stamp. It all seems rather fair to me. And goodness, this is taking ages.
