| Nation States is a nation simulation game. You create your own country, fashioned after your own ideals, and care for its people. Either that or you deliberately torture them. It's really up to you.
I found this online game a while ago, and thought I could share since we're bored quite often. It's very simple: you just create your own country, and every day they'll come up with issues. You make decisions and it affects the description of your country, as well as its level of political freedom, civil rights and economy. It may sound complicated or too serious, but really, the issues can get quite funny and the gameplay couldn't be easier to understand.
Oh, and here's a tip: new issues are set to appear once per week when you first join, so go to "settings" and you can choose to receive new issues as often as twice a day if you wish.
We also created a region for those that come from letssingit, it's called The LSI Union. So if you've decided to join the game, don't be shy and come on over to our region. You can either look it up on the region's list or click on the link to it on my country.
Have fun!
[note from dagor]
After having created your own nation, you can join the LSI region by clicking on your own region (Pacific something) and click on 'move to a new region' .. search for 'The LSI Union' |

| I might go for a more militarised route, if the issue ever comes up... Had to deal with whether voting should be compulsory or not today | 0 @ 07-03-2008 14:03 Dagor | 33,248 posts
| that appearst to be the starter issue .. I think almost everyone went for the voluntary option. Being belgian (in which voting is compulsary) I almost went for that option, but I chose voluntary as well.
Today's option was about giving people on strike a pay raise or allow that troublemakers get fired on the spot
and the foul-mouthed thingy was because i gave them full freedom of speech .. hehehe
Do you have changed your settings to 1 or 2 issues per day, phil? | 0 @ 07-03-2008 14:04 andro | 42,248 posts

| I just got a new issue for my government to vote on... Should the national animal (the viper) be added to the dinner table, both to support the economy and deal with the viper overpopulation problem? | 0 @ 07-03-2008 22:54 Juliet86 | 7,722 posts
| I wish I could see all the issues I've had (you can't right? There's no feature I haven't found?) cause I can barely remember what issue I had this morning, and yesterday? Forget about it, cause that's what I did
Go for it Phil, viper sounds good Don't know if I'd do that to my tigers though | 0 @ 08-03-2008 09:21 nanki_c | 14,314 posts

| welcome to the union!
My topic of today is if hospitals should be allowed to pay (living persons) for their organs .. I voted no
And I noticed that you get ranked based upon a different criterion every day. Yesterday you were on top when you had the largest difference between poor/rich .. that is why the socialists where at the bottom of the ranking I guess.
I like that, it takes the element of competition out of it, because the competition itself changes every day
IntelligentSpam's national animal is the viper, which is also the nation's favorite main course | 0 @ 08-03-2008 13:00 indiechick_ | 8,596 posts

I don't want to become a police state
My new issue was rather hilarious .. it was about minorities in TV-soaps | 0 @ 21-04-2008 17:59 indiechick_ | 8,596 posts
| did you see? there's going to be nation states 2 out soon.
"With NS2, the design from day one has been all about longer-term gameplay. While the core principles of NationStates haven't changed — micromanagement is still a dirty word, diplomacy is the focus, and customization rules — NS2 greatly expands your nation's ability to affect its world. It's all about giving you top-level control and letting you take your nation wherever the hell you want." | 0 @ 21-04-2008 18:00 JDolla | 6,917 posts
| i for one cannot wait. but will we be able to take our current nations with us? | 0 @ 21-04-2008 18:02 TheAnnoyance | 44,308 posts
