| wow, classy
seriously if you don't like the oscar polls, then don't comment on them. Its not exactly your sworn daily duty to come onto a lyrics website and bitch about how you don't like the oscar polls, you don't like it fine, but don't ruin it for the people who enjoy movies, enjoy the oscars and enjoy voicing their opinions on what they enjoyed
in short if you have nothing to actually contribute to the poll, don't vote, don't comment, just keep your glorious insight on how the website is running out of poll ideas (who would have thought they'd do oscar polls leading up to the oscars, shocking) to yourself
For the record i enjoyed Juno and No Country for old men, if the ending for old country didn't suck it would have been a sure bet for no country, there will be blood was bad as as well, but it was a marathon movie to make it through, in short it will go to there will be blood, it should go to no country and i'd rather see it go to Juno | +1 @ 23-02-2008 00:42 Tasso0 | 175 posts
| Fishmunky, maximum respect for your opinion, it's pretty complex, but you could be a little bit more understanding towards the general annoyment, because a poll whitch only interests about 10% of the people (OK that was made up by myself but the other comments support my estimation) still isn't preferable. | 0 @ 23-02-2008 00:42 llcm | 1,283 posts
| juno the one i heard most about | +4 @ 23-02-2008 00:59 fishmunky | 20,436 posts
| Tasso0, i appreciate your interest in the poll, but honestly very few of the polls ever interest me: with recent gems like are you more like your mom or dad, or do you have a driver's lisense
and when the polls have absolutely no appeal to me i don't go into the topic and express my disgust by crapping all over the topic and generally being a douche bag to everyone who may have enjoyed the poll
the point is the poll isn't going to appeal to everyone, but no one makes you read it, no makes you comment on it, so why be a giant douche bag about it? honestly freedom from these crappy polls is mouse click away
i think people need to learn occasionally that much like in a movie theatre, on the internet silence is golden so that other people can enjoy things
if you have serious umbridge with anything i've said you can direct your complaints to me by clicking the red X at the top of your web browser | +1 @ 23-02-2008 01:06 OrangeIris | 287 posts
| I'm tired of these Oscar related questions. I never watch them. I don't care who wins! | -4 @ 23-02-2008 01:10 lada4ever | 246 posts
| Still not interested in the oscars and still haven't seen most of these movies 2 make a good decision. I voted 4 Juno cuz that's the only 1 I've seen.
New Poll Question 4 every1: Did they name the color after the fruit or the fruit after the color? I'm talking about Orange. I didn't know ne other way 2 word that question.
I think they named the the color after the fruit cuz other colors are named after the food. Ex. coffee, salmon pink, and macoroni and cheese(yellow orange).
U don't have 2 answer but I thot it was interesting. Or @ least more interesting than the Oscars. | +1 @ 23-02-2008 01:56 Tasso0 | 175 posts
| Well it's don't think I'm the one making a habit of complaining (even though I have mentioned a once or twice that I don't like the current one), but I'll answer anyway. So, I didn't say the best option is to shout out loud how much you wish that the one putting up that poll should die a violent death in two minutes, it may become pretty annoying if that takes up the whole of the discussion but that I can tolerate negative opinions in some cases, because they give a general guideline about the topics people would like to talk about in the future, admitting that mostly they aren't too constructive. | +4 @ 23-02-2008 02:34 fishmunky | 20,436 posts
| admitting that mostly they aren't too constructive.
in fact they rarely are, some people just like to complain
if we put up a poll about the genocide in darfur, it would go over the head 90% of the users here, if it was a poll on Britney Spears' cootch it would be far too low brow and vapid, basically no matter what you can't please anyone with these polls, hence why i advocate contributing something positive or just don't say anything, there's a place where you can suggest poll ideas, its right underneath the vote button, don't like the current topic add your own, if its even remotely passable for a poll it will be added to the site eventually
anyways i think i've hi jacked this thread enough. let me close by saying that the polls are nothing formal, just something to add discussion to the site, coming into a poll on the oscars and bitching about the awards, complaining about the poll, or commenting that you dont know what should win because you havent seen any of the movies, you are bringing nothing to the table, at least come with jello next time to make up for the fun you aren't bringing | +1 @ 23-02-2008 02:37 spaz0304 | 248 posts
| hopefully Juno...
i thought that it was a wicked good movie, but others might disagree...i actually wrote a paper on this movie and after analyzing it a bit and finding deeper meaning, i realized that this is a really good movie with a lot of meaning and it deserves and oscar for reasons other than the fact that i enjoyed it | -1 @ 23-02-2008 03:33 Mr_Pie_Guy_69 | 2,099 posts
| I voted Juno because it was really good and Ellen Page is from Cape Breton | -1 @ 23-02-2008 04:15 ArmsOfSorrow | 1 posts
| I agree with fishmunky .
If you've got a problem with the polls as they are now, just don't vote and don't complain. It's not like we complain about how we don't like the senseless questions that are asked. As an example (like fishmunky said): "Who are you more like, your mum or dad?".
Honestly, who cares? | +2 @ 23-02-2008 04:19 DaRkAgE | 84 posts

| Fishmunky - While I agree mostly with what you've wrote, I don't think you're necessarily correct.
Whether it's "classy" or not, people have the right to say what they think of a poll. Not everyone will like it, but they still have a valid point.
It's a good thing that people state what they think of a poll. It's good as feedback for LSI to know people's opinions because this way mods will know what sort of polls to produce in the future for maximum (and positive) feedback. You're only going to find this out by filtering out the bad polls first.
And you were saying that intelligent polls go over people's heads? These Oscar polls are no gem, (and I don't mind the one off, but) considering most of the votes/comments don't go to who people feel deserve it but "I've only seen X movie, so I voted for X"/"I love X so they should get the award". That's fine, but if there's going to be 3 Oscar polls, expect a lot of those types of comments, and ergo a few more complaints. | 0 @ 23-02-2008 11:44 Suzie15 | 168 posts
| I vote for Atonement. I just loved it! JUno is very good too the rest i don't know but..Atonement ^^ |
