411 posts	Honestly, I did not vote for Johnny Depp because he is "hot", but because I believe he and Tim Burton are the best actor/director pair I have ever encountered. Just take a look at Edward Scissorhands and The Corpse Bride and all the other movies they've done together. Their work is brilliant and he deserves it. I have never seen any of the other movies, but I can honestly say that Sweeney Todd is the best movie ever, in my opinion. I loved every single second of it, even if I did cry at the end. Johnny Depp is an incredible actor and that can't be denied. So, yeah. that's my opinion and it's cool if you disagree, but I'm just saying that I do not care about his looks, even if he did fit the part perfectly.

248 posts	I don't pay attention 2 da Oscars and i haven't seen ne of these movies. The only thing i watch that's even close 2 da Oscars is MTV awards. So sence i haven't seen ne of these movies, i voted based on hottness level which is awarded 2 JOHNNY DEPP!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG i love him. I think he is an amazing actor and i'm impressed on all da diff roles he's played.

20,436 posts	not to be critical of the Landslide johnny Depp victory going to the hot topic crowd, but honestly if you haven't seen at least 3 of these movies i think you should keep in mind that you'd be voting off the one film you saw and assuming it had the best performance of the year Daniel Day-Lewis will in all likelihood win for his Performance in there Will Be Blood, quite frankly because he was amazing, i've seen 3 of the 5, with michael clayton and the valley of Elah being the 2 i've yet to see, But Jones received tons of praise for his role, and while i enjoyed Sweeney Todd immensely, Johnny Depp wasn't particularly captivating in the role, honestly I thought Helena Bonham Carter stole the show in that flick, as she embraced her charcter far better than Depp or even Rickman did But Viggo Mortensen in Eastern Promises went ALL OUT for his role, including living for months in the area of russia he was supposed to be from and spending time in prison with russian gangsters to get the tattoos and gang attitude correct, he went the extra mile to live as the character he played and it shows through in the film and to the person that praised Burton/Depp as the best actor director team ever, you should probably watch Raging Bull and Taxi Driver (Scorsese and DeNiro) or A History of Violence and Eastern Promises (Cronenberg and Mortensen) or even Se7en and Fight Club (Fincher and Pitt) Depp and Burton make occassionally excellent films (Sweeney Todd, Edward Scissorhands) and occassionally terrible films (Ed Wood, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Corpse Bride)

I understood Ieshie, she only said she thought he was hot, and she didn't mean that she thought he deserved to win the oscar, cause she didn't watch any of those movies. I didn't watch any of them either... But I voted for Johnny Depp, cause he's so cute! hahaha.. But I also think he is a good actor!! Even though I have no idea of who deserves to win the Oscar.

580 posts	it's astonishing how many ppl voted for an actor without even seeing the movie he is nomineed for.... i mean, looks over acting? that's why movies are like that... hotties, hotties and more hotties... you don't go to the cinemas to see a movie, you go to see a hottie playing a role in a movie AND DON'T DENY IT!!! viggo cuz he is hot, depp cuz he is hot... what's next?
