no one really cares about bassists in bands, plus it really is difficult to be an outstanding bassist (sigh). but there are some that have truly stood up against the rest and have earned the right to be named outstanding bassists. name a few here!

i think the best are mark king from level 42 and flea from red hot chili peppers. yeah!

ps i play bass and i sing in my band so to be outstanding is really quite... impossible.

I know how you feel. I play bass myself... or at least I try, so I'm interested in hearing a good bassist play. I think Flea is pretty damn good with a bass. I also think Victor Wooten is quite amazing.

mat freeman of rancid is one of my favorite basists. his solo in the song maxwell murder is one of the fastest i've ever heard

larry graham is a top inspiration. as is john deacon from queen.. i mean he created one of the most played bass lines ever (another one bites the dust)

I wanna play bass myself but I like Carlos D of Interpol and Andy Rourke of the Smiths is good.
