| yeah but only post once cause it pops up on the new topics and active topics part making it three times just annoys people
anyways my side of the debate (gets behind a deabate thingy and gets all serious)
no we should not clone them because that is playing god and i'm against cloning, and uhm...i had some other really professional things i could have said but i can't think of them so just to make it look like i know what i'm takling about i'm going to bull shit my way through time because sometimes they do that kind of thing in debates, dont they? anyways have you seen that movie Flatliners with Kevin Bacon and stuff, i mean man that movie made me cry and god that was a beautiful ending and Kevin Bacon looks gooooood with long hair but anyways back to the topic at hand, cloning is playing God and unless you have God on your name tag you should not play God because that is not a nice thing to do as you might make God have a temper tantrum and he might smote some of us (wide eyes) anyways no cloning is bad and i dont care if they're almost dead or something because it's just their time and sometimes things go extinct but do you think we should do something about it? not really, unless it's just like getting them to mate then i'm all for that but like cloning things is wrong and playing god and as i said he might smote us for that (wide eyes agian) and i dont want to be smitten ((yes i know that means something completely different )) and now i'm done
(steps down from the debate thingy and takes a bow) thank you! thank you! thank you! vote for me! | 0 @ 05-10-2003 12:24 Plantagenet | 12,864 posts

| Well, I say clone it....I don't think there's anything wrong with it... | 0 @ 05-10-2003 15:04 Rass | 5,430 posts
| did you not read my debate speach?! we dont want to get smitten! | 0 @ 05-10-2003 15:33 Kickink192 | 6,823 posts
| i believe we should, god gave us the minds that gave us the technology to clone. i dont see why we should not clone! | 0 @ 05-10-2003 15:38 NightShade | 2,772 posts
| I'm not religious, so the religious side of the argument doesn't really interest me, but i still respect your point of view.
I also don't think cloning should happen. There isn't actually a point to it. I'm all for science, but cloning is just going too far and there's no need in it. These scientists just want people to be in awe of them. | 0 @ 05-10-2003 17:51 Masterful_Ally | 15,627 posts
| lol Rass¬ I just read your er, debate speech - very nice! I couldn't make any sense of it though apart from the bit about god getting angry?! *shrugs*
Anyway, I say clone. It's highly probable its the human race who have driven this creature to the verge of distiction, as we have with so many other, so I think we should have to accept the responsibility of saving it - and if you think this 'god' you all talk of will be angry....then he must be the mean old testament god and I can't posssibly agree with him - let alone believe in him! lol. No offence intended to believers.

| I'm all for cloning endangered species, as long as we do it in a very controlled and monitored way - no cloning dinosaurs!!!! and no cloning thousands of the animals - we need to calculate how many animals the natural habitat can sustain, etc., so we don't overpopulate.
Also, I have been following the brain stem cell research avidly - I absolutely think we should develop the ability to clone individual organs. I know that that would most definately have changed my life, in a very positive way, and it would cut down on the number of people who die simply because they can't get a transplant of some vital organ. | 0 @ 05-10-2003 18:05 Masterful_Ally | 15,627 posts

| hmmmmm you know i think its a good thing for like endangered species and organs and stuff....but not of humans and like....i dunno, i just feel like maybe it could go too far u know? but other than that i think its a pretty good thing | 0 @ 05-10-2003 21:55 LowBrass | 703 posts
| I think that cloning endangeres species is absolutely the right thing to do. We humans afterall, are the ones who have almost made them extinct. We need to do everything we can to preserve this particular breed of tiger as well as all endangered species. As far as it not being 'moral' or 'ethical', I really don't see what the problem is. We would be SAVING a species from extinction. I think that would be the RIGHT thing to do.
To sum it up, I believe that cloning is an extremely helpful tool, and as Jamie said, just as long as we don't try to clone dinousars. I mean, we all saw Jurassic Park, right? | 0 @ 05-10-2003 22:00 built2liv | 5,278 posts
| Jurassic Park would be sweet though... | 0 @ 05-10-2003 22:25 Milita | 1,369 posts
| I agree with Jamie...it should be done but controlled... it's the only way to not lose lots of animals that are near to dissapear, I'll like my kids to know this animals not only by photographs!! And if we have the knowledge to do it, why not? | 0 @ 06-10-2003 12:03 Plantagenet | 12,864 posts
| I said no cloning, cause I believe abuses will be done anyway if you let it happen...
and, I also think it might be dangerous for the species. recently, someone spoke about cloning the Dodo, but that animal is like more than 200 years dead, how will it survive in this climate? it's much warmer now than it was then...do scientists think about that? And, you also have mutation, perhaps the Dodo wouldn't be like it was 200 years ago anymore because of mutations... |
